If the majority of the play group want to allow people mentioning iron will, that's fine with me, I can go with this in the future if 2 more people say they want to do it the other way. Although that somewhat turns iron will into a really strong card since it will be positive for all skill checks and are worth 4 strengths.

I disagree that it counts as 4 points. Keep in mind that Iron will does 2 things. 1. If you are within 4 of the pass, don't trigger the fail. That is not the same as a DE were you can pass if you are off by 1 or 2 points. Also if you end up negative or 0, you get a -1 morale for it. A cylon can go and play most of the cards in a test with someone throwing in Iron will to help and then the human end up with both the fail and an additional -1 morale.

Now take in to account that if you are above a partial pass, Iron will does not help as you trigger the partial pass, not the fail. It extremely risky to try and use it as 4 points, it give you a little coverage from a bad DD.

I do however agree that if someone brought up they could play a scout for fuel during a skill test, to do what you said, they are looking for a way around the rules. Scout for fuel can't be used in a skill test for an effect, Iron will can be. It very much is a judgement call and intent matters. Bringing up an Iron will or even a DE for a skill test when it happens is fine by me, just like telling someone that you could play a SP a roll or send a scout out if you get an XO. If someone brought up Iron will or DE (unless it was to brig someone or something like that) then they would be trying to tell others what they had in their hand, not trying to suggest a course of action and why that action is better then others. The rules in fact address that. Naming a card because you can use it effect is not to be used as a way to tell everyone what you hand is.

Sorry, I was away yesterday.

Previously we've always played so that you can state if you have an IW/G&I or not. I think it says in the rules stuff like you can say if you e.g. XO someone, but this shouldn't be used as a roundabout way to divulge information about your hand: "I could either XO someone, repair something, lauch scout or consolidate power". I find this IW thing pretty much similar as public DE preloads, and I have no problem with those either.

We can tell with certain that Jopi put a negative card in. We take the Iron will out as Rendap said he was going to throw it in, and if Jopi was a human, he would not go and throw in an Iron will when someone else said they would. Jopi does not draw ENG, so he could not have put the ENG cards in, meaning that he put a Negitvive card in there.


So before I act, Rendap, if I throw you an XO, can you do something about Jopi?

I rather not take the discard as I have 3 rather useful cards in hand, but I will take that over failing this skill test.

We know Jopi will throw in a Negative card, what can everyone else throw in? I can't play anything into this test myself.

Preload, if we don't have at least 2 strong or 4 weak in support (or a mix that ammounts to that ie 1 strong 2 weak,) go for the or.
