How this works out is you are allowed to say you have a card for a purpose, but you can't just list off everything you can do with the cards in your hand unless you have only one card in your hand.

So you can say you can Xo one person, you can't say you can XO three people because you have 3 Xos in hand. You can say you have an SP in hand for a roll, but you can't say you have three SPs in hand.

It basically comes down to card for a purpose you planning on doing, but only the purpose of talk or one you suggest.

No, because that goes into the skill check rather than an ability you use prior to the skill check.

For example - saying you have a jury rigged before the skill check is ok, this is because if you end up playing it, then you play it publicly before any cards go into the skill check.

On the other hand, it is not ok to say iron will because it is an ability that is triggered if you play it into the skill check, this distinction is important because anything you play into the skill check is hidden, so by saying you got iron will then you are indirectly saying that card comes from you if an iron will shows up in the skill check. (aka, another way of saying what you played into the skill check, which is not allowed)

After Dexander's contribution I can take it from here. I wouldn't say no to some additional cards but you can play 0 cards if you want to.

Okay, that's an explanation I can work with.

So I'm gonna play 0 cards, since TNT says it's not needed and that way, well, if an Iron Will shows up later on, it won't necessarily be mine.

This is kind of a grey area in our games. Sometimes people say they have em, sometimes they don't. We usually allow saying that we have em as long as something is achieved. Like, don't say you're using an iron will every time. Here's an old quote:

I do have a DE in case we need it. But I feel like a weak more would be a good idea.

Also, stating that you have an iron will is a bit of an edge case. You are allowed to say that you have a card that you can play for a purpose . (IE. I have an XO I can use on someone, or I can SP a die roll.)

The only real issue with it, is that it effect is in the skill test rather then outside it.

I personally feel like it ok, Because first of all, you could be lying. And second of all, it does not mean that you put one in. Sure, everyone could see that if you said you could throw one in, and none was in there that you did not. But the same thing happens if you said that you could SP a roll and then did not play it.

Personally, as a GM and as a Player I am fine with it.

There's a mini debate that follows, but generally I agree with what E_L says. As long as you don't abuse it, saying you can use one before a test is ok.
