I know there's other threads, but more makes the problem more obvious.

You guys have got to do something about the load times, it is making what is otherwise a really great game just unbearable to suffer through. I have to wait a full minute or two for the save list to even come up when I load my game.

There's stalling in the animations whenever my timeline is unpaused. Battlefield play is untouched, runs flawlessly, it's just these load times that're brutally uncalled for. You guys need to focus your attention on this aspect, cuz it's ruining the game.

EDIT: BTW, this is with a SSD, Core i7 3.4ghz, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA 960 GPU, Windows 10

If you have a ton of saves under your campaign, try deleting any extraneous ones. Keep one from after you got your first dropship and like, 3 saves back from where you’re current save is, just in case.

Do this for every campaign if you have more than one.

I’m not sure why, but it’s almost like the game keeps all saves at least partially loaded in memory and it bogs things down. I deleted all by 5 key saves on my profile and it seemed to reduce the load on my PC a bit. Might be confirmation bias. Might be truth. Try it and see.

Yeah, I've concluded it's directly related to the number of save files present. Unfortunately, this presented some new annoying issues.

The first of which is the location of the save files, buried in steam's folder. It's all fine and good that I could look it up with Google and someone else figured out where they are. But seriously, couldn't be bothered to put your saves in, oh I dunno, the SAVED GAMES standard folder on every Windows 10 machine? Na, we'll bury it somewhere.

Second, the Steam cloud issue. If you got cloud saves enabled, and you pull up that folder to nuke your save games, Steam happily puts them all back for you. The only option to clean up the cloud saves is to delete each save, one at a time, in the game's interface, waiting upwards of 2 minutes for the list to refresh. Seriously? This is beyond shoddy workmanship.

Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty good game, but there's so many stupid mistakes and poor decisions surrounding a decent game, it's dragging the good parts down.

Examine the below given things to fix the slow game loads
  • Recent program installations. Programs downloaded from the internet and installed to your computer, come with third party applications that may slow down your computer.
  • Whether the issue is only when playing online games or offline as well
  • The make and model of your computer
  • Any updates on your graphics card driver
  • Whether other games work as they should on Windows 10
And try to fix them if after that still getting the same issue then run maintenance task:
  • Right click on the Start > Control Panel
  • Click on System and Security
  • Under Security and Maintenance, click Troubleshoot common computer problems
  • Locate System and Security
  • Click on Run maintenance tasks
A pop up will appear. Follow the instructions to run maintenance tasks.
