Is this the Zapotecs' creation myth?
It's very different, yet similar, to the Aztec creation myth as I remember it from when I studies Meso-American history.
I really enjoy the small touches like the "chocolatl" and the pictures.

About the AAR: is this a war about vassalizing the ennemy? Gaining gold? VPs? Do you play "in-character" (that is no-gain wars)?
About reality: how did they know who'd won the battle? How come they endangered the life of all their leaders in such battles instead of sending low-ranking nobles or men-at-arms or champions?
Also, IIRC, MesoAmericans didn't use swords, but clubs. With eventualy sone sharpened stones as your last picture shows.

I was doing this war to get the "white man" bonus - you get it as a backward Indian when you DOW 5 times I think. It was quite handy that Ancient Mexicans fought Flower Wars without any territory gain, but to get prisoners for sacrifice and to keep the enemy in check (normally also because neither of the sides could over-power the opponent in an all-out war so they fought "safe" battles.) So I tried to role play a bit.
Normally, the high ranking nobles fought those battles because they needed to make military careers and military careers depended mainly on the number of enemy captured (literally, person by person). Common people were way too lowly to participate.
Mesoamericans used a weapon called 'maquahuitl'... I translated it as 'sword' because I like it better then a 'club' And you are absolutely right in its desription! The obsidian in the edges was very securely glued in place, and those swords were almost as sharp as the European ones (but very fragile). There is a story when one Mexica warrior cut off a horse's head in a battle with his maquahuitl which stunned the Spaniards.

Judas throws another lightning. Again Eochaid dodges

Hopefuly for the two gods' worship, men could not hear or see them behave like spoiled kids. From the ground it was just another storm with a lot of wind and lightnings...
