Broken save game

Hi I am currently playing with all DLC and latest version installed w/ Windows 8. Was using cloud save for the first time and had a pretty large game going after spending quite a bit of time on it.
Earlier on my game froze and ended up crashing steam altogether. I reloaded the game and was shown the Broken save game message. I have copied the game to the local save location and it is still showing broken game.
Is there anyway to fix this? I was so close to reclaiming Rome's rightful borders :/

If it's Ironman, then no, it cannot be edited. If it's not, then conceivably it can be, yes - the good folks over in User Mods are probably best at that.

If it was saving to the Cloud, there's a possibility that the local cached copy might be OK. By default that would be here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<YOUR STEAM ID>\203770\remote\save games
If so just copy that to your local save games folder and give it a try.
