It may be that this is well known, but it hit me last evening in my current game and I wanted to raise it as an issue that makes no sense. I control England and have the 3 counties of York as vassals. I thought I would create the dutchie of York to ease management, gain prestige, and it is simply historical.
Well it turns out my monthly prestige gain DECREASES because I no longer get credit for the vassal counties which collectively are worth more than the the one dutchie.
This is silly. Creating vassal dukes creates more challenge (more electors, more concentration of power in vassal hands), should ease governing, and is HISTORICAL. It ought to be worth more prestige gain (the underlying counties should still count).
