I've played 20+ V.I.P games and in almost everyone(except my UK games) the UK has an extremely weak navy. They usually builds around 10 steamers transports, and nothing else in the 19th century part of the game.

Where as France usually has a fleet 4 or 5 times bigger(and stronger) then the UK.

Is this normal UK V.I.P behavior??

I honestly believe this is the most critical bug to fix before the next release of VIP. Having the #1 Nineteenth century world power not actually behaving as such is kind of gamebreaking, at least to me.

"Gamebreaking."

If you knew how tired I was of hearing that word lately around here ...

Of course, if you frequent the HOI forums, you probably already know.:p

I'm exaggerating but you know it's not very "epic" to play as I dunno, Germany and prepare for a final showdown with the diabolical British Empire only to find out that by 1880 they have no Navy and you can bring the world's greatest colonial empire to its knees with a bunch of clipper transports :p

Also why is it that the UK seems to be the only country that gets rid of its entire wooden navy at once? or maybe other countries do it aswell and I haven't seen it. It just seems that somewhere in the 1880's Great Britain decides that the Royal Navy is completely superflous and sinks all of it. Is this normal AI behavior or is there some even coded somewhere that we haven't noticed?

Anti-climatic.;)

This is an unintended result from trying to get the AI to update it's navy and have at least semi-realistic quantitative levels of warships in their navy, as opposed to hundreds and hundreds of capital ships ranging from Man-of-Wars to Dreadnoughts in the wars of 1910.

Needless to say, it needs a bit more work, assuming that they can even achieve the goals that they have set using the tools provided.

If I recall OHGamer stated long ago that the A.I. is encouraged to build more units when it goes to war, especially in a normal war.

Consequentially, as Britain fights nobody in the game other than Russia and colonial wars, its non-surprising that France and USA always has more soldiers and ships.
IMO, the best solution is to put the game on very hard and furious, sometimes that'll get the A.I. to go crazy but at least become more militarily competitive in the longrun.

Sounds good, but I also remember OHgamer saying the mod was developed to be played at Normal/Normal, otherwise you mileage will vary from the testing.

Wot a revoltin' development this is!
