British Raj (or any other colonial subject) should not be able to become a major in a war

Title says it all. I'm tired of having to deal with British Raj after succesfully invading Great Britain. It makes no sense that after the downfall of the metropolis the colonies are still trying to fight the Axis, specially if we consider the delicate situation that India was living at that time.

I don't know I think once they have a unique puppet system for the soviets they should define them more clearly. Fascist and Communist puppets shouldn't keep fighting after their overlord capitulated. Allied ones should keep fighting.

Personally, I think Fascist and Communist puppets should, depending on their NU, capitulate differently: if NU is High, they fight until they've been occupied or Majors lay down their arms. If NU is moderate, a coup can take place if enough land is occupied and the country switches side without the need to completely occupy them. If NU is low, a revolt/civil war breaks out where one side is the puppet-government and the other joins the faction currently opposing the regime.

This would be more historical behaviour from countries and would give more meaning to the importance of keeping your puppets NU high.

In fact... I'll go ahead and post this in the suggestions-forum.

If countries could not promote to majors during the war, that would by definition include situations where the human player starts as a minor. How many players would scream that their glorious empire as whoever was ruined when their AI allies folded?

That would simply require a small change in playstyle. Don't join factions. Create a faction if you'd like, but don't join one unless you grow to be a major. Even if the wars merge, if you're a third party involved you will not capitulate if the majors on your side do. Furthermore- even if you DID join a faction, you would only auto-capitulate if you had progress toward capitulation. Example- playing as Hungary, if Japan creates its own faction and Germany/Italy capitulate to the Allies but you still control 100% of your own territory, you won't capitulate yourself. The Allies will go to war table and flip Ger/Ita to democracies, but your own territory will be absent from the conference.

You missed the point entirely.
Minors becoming majors because they grew in strength and are contributing to the war? Sure thing.
Puppets becoming majors because they built a random number of factories or a true major capitulated and now they are number 5 in factories worldwide? Nonsense.

This. Puppets should not be able to become Majors. One more reason why a country should strive to become independent.

I will only focus on the part of British Raj. Well, we all know Indians are not dedicated to English. It is believed that the Raj might declare independent and quit the war if Great Britain lost it's influence.

Yet this might only apply to British Malaya, Africa and Raj based on their reluctant to be ruled. Hard to say about the Dominions since they are very close to English, as if Australia. However, it would not make more sense if the colony would still fight even their master lost, just like Raj should have capitulated as their ruler has done.
