I begun playing Britain (GC) and I suddenly noticed I had this huge deficit, now, how am I going ot fix that? I raised my taxes, but it didn't help

Playing Britain without knowing how to make money (or other core strategies) isnt probably the best idea Best bet is to get solid "education" by developing a minor country and learning the basics before attempting a monster like the UK. Switzerland is a fun country to test things out on ... fairly stable economy, 12 divisions in reserve and a southern neigbor begging for some beatings

Yes or belgium is a pretty easy nation to play, it was my first successful country =)

To get POPs for the factories: find a region (state) that has one or several provinces with a farmer/labourer POP of size 100.000 or close to getting there, build factories in that state and turn all the other POPs into craftsmen/clerks but keep the 100.000 one. This 100.000 POP will spawn new POPs for your factories.
Edit: not sure what happens if you turn the 100.000 POP into a craftsman, will it spawn new craftsmen? Might be a better alternative then...
