I'm playing a game as Germany and invade Poland in 1939. I'm seeing Hurricane's; Spitfires and MS 406 fighters flying out of Poland. How is this possible?

There is no range limit on rebasing in game.

So an Air unit in London England redeploys to Warsaw Poland through the entire Luftwaffe. That should be reworked.
Oh, it's far worse than that. You could redeploy an air unit from Belfast to Singapore while at war with every country in between, without checking to see if that model plane had the fuel for even a single leg of the trip.

I can only guess why this is the design. My current favorite guess is: the devs haven't found a fix that doesn't also prevent the AI from redeploying any air units at all.

Then again, this isn't even the third-worst problem with the air system by my estimate. The air system overall needs a rework.

It really doesn't have that big of an impact on combat.
Sorry, but the premise of this thread disproves that, unless you want to claim British and French air power in Poland "doesn't have that big of an impact on combat".

I'm personally fine with being able to rebase anywhere from anywhere regardless of range, but I do feel like the planes should actually be on the map and able to take damage. rather than basically teleporting.

The range issue (Sending wings to an airport in 20.000 km distance) is hard to fix and I think I'm fine with the abstraction.

Maybe it could be like this:
- Deploying planes from stockpile is only possible at airports in states where you can deploy land forces. (=core states ?)
(The mechanic is already there because you cant deploy new wings at airports of a country you sent air volunteers to.)

- Sending planes from one Airport to another takes much more time (x5 ?) to simulate using other Airports.

And then the enemy terriority issue (thread topic) could also be taking into account by calculating a further time delay based on enemy air superiority in zones the airplane crosses. (Simulation going around that somehow.)
