We're gonna start as soon as possible... right now I'm a bit buisy as I'm moving tomorrow, but expect us to start work in a few days then I'll be back. So far I've been doing a little bit of graphics since that's my main task for this mod (along with research). Red Revolution (our Guru and mental leader :D) have been working on the map. As far as I know he's also already made a lot of events (I guess that's what happens when you start reading about post WWII communism in Albania :D)

So far the map is ready (or at least 99% of it since China had to be researched a bit more as far as I know). I've got some screenshots of it somewhere on this PC but I can't find them right now :(

The only screenshot I could find is this of a loadscreen idea I made... if any of you have any comments on it please feel free to speak up and give your ideas:

Christensen, are you any good with scenario selection graphics? There are a couple unfinished Cold War scenarios I have that do not have a selection graphic. Since I restarted work on them I might need them and since you are good with that field maybe you can help. If you need to I'll show you how the rest of them look so they can be consistent (pretty much every one was made by Rey), unless you want to redo all of them to match what you want...

Of course I will help you with this... As soon as I have all my stuff in place (should be around monday) I'll start work on it. And it would be a great help to see what Rey have made so that I can try and match his "theme".

Plus I'm not sure what stuff is in what folder and exactly what has to link to what. In short, tell me what needs done and I can do it...

No you've got your people switched around, Im the Victoria MDS Guy 1952 - 2007, My mod was released but is on hold till revolutions. I think it was Allenby that was the Cold War for HOI2

Allenby is in charge of the 1914 Mod - I think it's Biosis who's making the Cold War mod.

I think if we are going to start developement we are probably going to need a forum somewhere. It'll get pretty confusing if we use this one tread for developement. Are we gonna have some kind of off site forum or site Christensen and use this post for general updates?

I must admit that I have no knowledge of how to make a forum or where to host it, so for the time being I can't say... Please people keep in mind that I am not the leader of this project, only of the Graphic part of it ;).

I guess I’m the leader of the project. It's about time we get this organized, so I’ve hosted a forum at:

It isn't a very impressive site, but I think it will do for now.

I'd also like to give a sketch of what we have in mind for the mod so far.

The West and the East make up two alliances. The third alliance is to be Maoist China, if they break with the Soviets. Both the USSR and the PRC will start out as "Stalinist". After the death of Uncle Jo, the Soviets may choose to change to "Leninist". This will cause the end of their alliance with China, but bring them closer to less totalitarian marxist nations such as Cuba, Yugoslavia and several African nations.

As mentioned earlier, there will be no pre-determined cause of WWIII. It's up to the human players to spark that inferno. The long timeframe (1948-1970) will hopefully cause, that belligerence becomes vital for the game. By having a low belligerence, you would be able to gain more allies amongst the newly formed nations in the Middle East and Asia. Events and maybe even some technology will modify the belligerence level of the major powers.

On technology we have so far agreed that cavalry, battleships, light and heavy tanks should be available, but there will be limited tech advancement for such obsolete units. This will render them useless at the end of the game. Tactical nukes and chemical weapons could be added as brigades for both land divisions and airplanes. We also came up with the idea to have space technology available only to the US and the USSR, making a kind of “space race”. The superpower that first reaches specific techs (Launch Craft, Manned Space Station, Lunar Mission and so on) will gain off-map victory points and a lowering of belligerence.

As the game starts in may, 1948, some old dominions start out as being independent. This includes: Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Burma and Ceylon. The rest will be released at their respective historical dates.
