In real life Castille became imensely rich from their colonization and war in the new world. It even mentions in the demo how one can lead Castille to great riches.. I am quite confused however, on how we are suppsed to do this. I went and basicaly conquered both the cherokee and the other tribe south of them quickly, but made no real money from this. How does one gain money from conquering new world provinces?
Realisticaly Castille also made a huge sum of money from plunder of the incas and the aztecs, should I have fought and conquered them?
Also one extra quesion srry for all the questions, is the only way to manually make more money from trade to send merchants to COT? And does the rcountry in current crontol of a COT make any moey from that COT even if they have no merchant their?
Thnx much for yauls time, as u can tell im new to EU but already greatly enjoying this bloddy excellent game.

The Aztecs, Incas, Mayans were all much richer areas than Northern United State. The plain Indians and those on the Eastern coast were much smaller areas with little explotation of the natural resources.

The Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans were formed cultures of multiple tribes with large amounts of gold. In the game this is shown by gold in the Aztec provinces, one of them is sugar. Mayan empire has spices in it making it worth more.

The tribes you conquered probably had a lot of wheat and fish which arent very rich areas and their populations were probably rather small.

The Aztec empire makes about 15 on the budget screen when/if you play it. So it should give you at least 8-10 when in addition to what you already have.

You get some tax money for controlling a CoT. To get money from trade from owning CoTs you'll have to send merchants like anybody else.

Ah ok yea I was thinking that, most of those northern tribes had little. So the Inca and the Aztec are the way too go? And if I do conquer their regions, would I have to do anything special with the trade or anything or does it automatically get transported to youre COT? And every turn these yellow numbers flash saying +** what is this from tax?

So yea best start sending merhcants then, but most of the time they seem to fail within a couple days? Does anybody know why this is?

When I conquered the Incas and the Aztecs as Castille in my game, I held a CoT that I believe had some ridiculous amount of like 700-900! Being that it was only me (with trade level over 6 and able to monopolize) and some various Amer-Indian tribes in the CoT, I was making something like 30-40+ off of that CoT alone. It got even higher after I imbargoed the resource poor Creek, Iroquios, et al in the North (and conquered some just for kicks). So yeah, that trade income and gold income from the mines was getting seriously out of control. Of course, so was the revolt risk and inflation.

I did see something that might have been a bug. I kept getting messages about rebels taking my American provinces (the one's I conquered), but when I went there I did not see any rebel and the province was still under my control. Anyone know why?

All prices will go up (recruitment, province improvements etc.). Also, your monthly income will decrease for some reason

Baelthazar

Speaking from EU2 experience, the provinces in question have too small a population. So yes, there was a rebellion, but the population was too small to effectively field a rebel army. So let the pagans rebel, who cares :D

Nothing you can do. Owning several gold-producing provinces _will_ make your inflation increase more than average. The income from these provinces has a separate line in your economy table for a reason. It's a trade-off. Make sure you make good use of the extra money now, because you will pay interest for it later (in everything you buy).
There should be inflation-reducing improvements and national ideas though.

If you want my unqualified advice, don't worry, take it! :)

At that point, you can't. You can take a National Idea that reduces inflation by a bit per month, but that doesn't do much when the gold is pouring in from the mines.

At first, though, that won't matter. You'll look at your impressive profit margin and think, "15% inflation? No problem, I can handle that."

And then, when inflation is high enough, comes The Event. The horrible, horrible Event that in one swift strike will destroy your economy, send your stability hurtling towards the depths, and generally make life miserable for your poor subjects.

And then you can start rebuilding. Good fun. :D

Can you not free the provinces as a Vassal once you have siphoned off some early riches? This is sort of what Spain did in creating Viceroys and such (that bit them in the rear during the age of Napoleon). Is it still that Vassals pay you a certain percentage of their income as tribute? You wouldn't make as much money but you might cut your long-term losses that way.

I almost always tend to vassalize contries I am at war with, unless rather small. It mitigates the revolt risk and makes me feel like I am playing Crusader Kings.

Re: Corwin

Thanks, that is probably what it is, low population. So the rebels jump forward, tear crap up, and go away. Thus playing EUIII I get to ask the same question as many Spanish colonists in the New World, "Why am I getting that strange burning sensation?" :)

Its what happend in real life. Spain got massive amounts of gold and eventually it destroyed their economy. That is why steady growth is better than quick growth that dies off.

You can reduce inflation by building the buildings that reduce inflation, doing the National Bank, and reducing the amount of money that goes directly into your treasurey and invest it.

Investing a lot of money in Government, Production, and Trade tech will help make up for the increases in inflation as your other income is supplemented as well. If you are not spending your money fast enough, by building improvements, you should be investing it in tech.

Another strategy is not conquereing ALL of them at the same time. So you build up slowly, if you hit a snag, take over more natives!

Thnx much for yauls time, as u can tell im new to EU but already greatly enjoying this bloddy excellent game.

There is one important national idea you are missing: Viceroys.

Viceroys give you an extra 30% income from overseas provinces, thus negating the penalty for provinces being overseas in the first place. With viceroys in place, native provinces will at least start paying for themselves. Then you should use missionaries to convert the people to your religion, eliminating the religious modifier to income.

It will take some time, but there is no reason that you cannot make them profitable. Also, controlling the COT in the middle of Mexico and controlling North American trade will bring in some revenue as well.
