Greetings,
This is an idea I had since Career mode came out:
If a contract is 2 skulls difficulty, and I bring 1 skull worth of 'Mech tonnage, then I would get the equivalent score/reputation of 3 skulls if I complete it.
If I bring instead 3 skulls of tonnage to the contract, then I get only the equivalent of 1 skull (or, in alternative, you don't get a penalty and keep the original contract's score.
If I lose/withdrawal from the contract, I get the original penalty regardless of the tonnage I bring.
The justifications for this change would be:
1) Rewards player skill by bringing lighter 'Mechs into a fight
2) Doesn't force the player to constantly get bigger 'Mechs for higher difficulty contracts, otherwise the player risks damage/losses if he/she brings lighter 'Mechs without any additional compensation
3) This is alternative, but it can be also used to punish the player for bringing extra tonnage, so that bringing 4 Assaults against 4 Mediums will still be a cake walk but it will negatively impact on the score.
4) In-game this can be justified as how reputation works: the GDL, Wolf's Dragoons, Kell Hounds, etc., didn't earn their reputation and notoriety by winning easy or normal missions but by beating the odds. So this is also a new gamble and challenge for the player.
