Not so sure. Italy was on the winning side. That did not stop the fascists from gaining power there. As long as the Brits and French had the global order rigged in their favor, Germany was going to be jingoistic.
Italy had different problems at the time, including the extreme focus on the north (to a lesser extent, this is still present), caused by how Italy formed. While Germany had technically a Prussian Emperor (as Italy had a Savoyard King), Germany had both stronger local governments (even between the wars, voting rights were heavily dependend on where you lived - most previously independent cities have comparatively low NSDAP/SPD/KPD percentages in the years before Hitler took power, mostly because people with enough money got up to 50 votes in some of these cities) and more evenly distributed wealth (even today, most of Italy's wealth is still located north of the river Po).
Also, Mussolini was way less jingoistic than Hitler - being rude towards your smaller neighbours is different to starting WW2.

invading ethiopia and albania is not "being rude to your smaller neighbours"
mussolini was every bit as jinogistic as hitler, his country just couldn't match germany's industrial power or population size

I'd like a November 1919 DLC, where you could try an keep Germany stable and so forth - It'd be slick to try and beat off everyone trying to stick their grubby paws into your nation. Like an independent soviet of Bavaria (like actually happened) and dealing with the whole 1920s things (also, wall street crash)

ditto. i hope the political and intelligence aspects are good enough to the point where an extended period of peace isn't mind crushingly dull and monotonous.

Haven't you heard? AI decisions are now based upon an actual assessment of the situation instead of rigid events that force the AI into action.
Therefore, Fleetlord Atvar will make his decision about when and where to start the invasion based upon the global situation.
For example, the Race is less likely to try blocking supply lines through Poland if the bulk of the Wehrmacht isn't deep inside the Soviet Union.

I think AI assessment should only affect the deployment of the invasion force and that only slightly. After all the travel time between the worlds is rigid and the plans for the invasion have been made beforehand, based on the invaluable experience of the doctrine. Actual situation on hand should not be reflected on that too much.

That would be really awesome to play as the kaiser or maybe even the Wiemar Republic. Maybe they could start the game in 1930?

sure. you'd just need to make corresponding events for every country that had anything worthwhile happen between 1930 and 1936. and that's NOT counting the mindcrushingly tedious effort of making 1930 OOBs.:)

While Hitler certainly takes the cake, the Kaiser wasn't a very pleasant man either. The only thing Wilhelm had going for him was that Hitler came after him and because of this history seems to treat him more kindly then he deserved. Even if you strip the Allied propaganda off the First World War Wilhelm was a horrible leader and a horrible person and the things the Germans did in places like Belgium aren't pretty. You're basically trading one bad guy for another slightly less bad guy.

yes, Wilhelm was so bad that even OHL, which itself wrecked all peace attempts and lost the war for Germany, told the Kaiser that he had lost the confidence of the Army and should abdicate.

You're basically trading one bad guy for another slightly less bad guy.

pretty much. Wilhelm II pretty much destroyed the German monarchy. here's a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_II,_German_Emperor

you couldn't ask for a more incompetent national leader.

Well, Wilhelm is arguably (actually quite reliably so) a bad national leader but he is at least not an unethical, disgusting power monger like Hitler.

I don't know if you can call Wilhelm a "horrible person" to be honest. He is erratic and politically inept, but he cannot compare to Hitler when considering the badness in a person. I mean, he admitted that he hate the Slavs but knew of it as a sin when he admitted it.

Well, deporting people for whatever reason happens a lot during history - building factories to kill fellow humans and dispose their remaints isn't exactly common in history. ((That said, Hitler wasn't the pushing force behind the (industrial) shoah, either. Germany had far worse antisemits at the time than Hitler.))

ye cus KKKaiser Willhelm was no antisemite :)

He wasn't really... One of his buddies was a Jew ;) The anti-semitism in this era was just formal. It wasn't the hate of the Nazi era. And there wasn't a systematic Jew killing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Ballin

Einstein was President of the German Physical Society in this era. He would never have a chance to get tis position in the Nazi era. In the Nazi era Jews weren't allowed in the most societies. In the Imperial era this wasn't a big problem.

While Hitler certainly takes the cake, the Kaiser wasn't a very pleasant man either. The only thing Wilhelm had going for him was that Hitler came after him and because of this history seems to treat him more kindly then he deserved. Wilhelm II hadn't any power in the World War... He was a powerless marionett of the OHL. Hindenburg was the bad man in the WW I. Germany in the world war was something like a Hindenburg military dictatorship.

.. But he was an unethical, disgusting power monger like Hitler.* - Fixed it for you, friend.

He hated jews, slavs, wanted to deport polish and baltic people to make room for master german race..

As I said... he didn't hated Jews that much in social live. It was just the formal antisemitism of the German elitary. And he didn't believe in a German master race...

I don't say he was nice either... But he wasn't absolute evil or like Hitler.
