Well, there are hundreds of threads about it, but it is a frequently asked question so without a search function it is a given that the question comes up every now and then. :)

Condensed forum consensus:
- brigades per se are less useful than building new divisions instead
- brigades are useful to strengthen powerful and expensive units such as tanks or commandos
- the single most important brigades are Art and SP-Art
- SP-Art is most useful on armoured divisions as they reduce softness even more (percentage-wise) than on an infantry div
- Art is great for units with limited numerical strength like marines and paratroopers
- AC is useful for Mot as it makes them harder and adds org, which means the Mot will remain operative longer (and thus can better fill its role in helping the tanks exploiting breakthroughs)
- Esc-F are a must for Tac
- AT, SP-AT and Eng are mostly useless when compared to alternatives
- brigading foot infantry is only advisable in very rare situations (if manpower/IC are limited)

Engineer is very useful if you want infantry and mountaineer walk faster.

CAG is a must for CVs, although I often sink CAG-less CVs and wonder why they are produced?

If you love Tiger or Konigstiger, build some heavy tanks.:p

Just a question, then what would be a good Brigade for my Spear Head Tank Division?

Currently, I'm using Super Heavy Tanks for Role-Play purposes and because it's cool, but I know that the slowing my speed is important, but that's what my motorized infantry is to do, once my Spear Head tank divisions breaks through, my Motorized infantry swarm through and encircle the enemy.

Mountaineers are speed-capped. They gain no movement bonus from Engineers (except for the 1937 model). In any case, you would gain more collective mobility by spending the same Manpower on ordinary Infantry Divisions instead...

4 x ENG = 10 Manpower = +2.0 movement points total (4 x 0.5 mp)
1 x INF = 10 Manpower = +4.0 movement points total (1 x 4.0 mp)

SP-Art is normally considered best. No movement penalty, good Hardness and excellent Soft and Hard attack... it's also cheaper in IC-days, Supply and Oil than a H-ARM brigade.

As mentioned before, though, the second (1941) model of H-ARM is useful enough. The first (1938) model is junk.
