I was looking through the various FAQ:s and the Manual (NEW) but didn´t find anything written about bonuses adding Brigades (Eng/Art/AA/AT) to your unit...
If someone could point me in the right direction I´d be very glad..

Thx for a great forum by the way.
When I bought HOI I gave up after 4 hours but when I read this forum 2 years later finaly I could play it. Now competing with EU2 for my all time favourite game... :) :) ;)

re Brigades

hey.

I dont know of any guide to the bonuses in terms of exact values, but....

Art = soft and hard attack bonus
A/T =large hard attack bonus
A/A= small hard attack, large AA attack bonus
Eng= large defensive bonus.

also, refer to the tech bonus. Example: bulldozer ( infantry tech) gives you " Engineers +2 land defense bonus" - not worth getting unless you have significant amounts of Eng brigades.

Numerous art and other techs give bonus's to one type of brigade or other, or to all units in that class ( ie all inf, all mech, all tank, anything with Art brigade etc)

So : the bonus is usually 2 or 3 ? points onto a value, but it can be modified by techs. End result : a wide range of possible values for any unit, given different combinations of tech and brigade....

confused? me too

The basic stats for reinforced divs.(brigades) is found on page 100 in the
manual.(original copy)

A few things are not shown there however, like the speed increase for eng.
brigades.

If you want a faster way of seeing the differences between the add-ons,
select the div.you want & just click on the type of brigade when you are in
the build screen.
You can see the stats change there.

Until you're more familiar with them, you may want to look at the manual
also.(other bonuses)

Btw, I happen to like eng. because of the speed, fortification, def. & river
crossing bonuses.

Others have different preferences.

However you will not need brigades on all your units.
I usually put eng. brigades on 1/3 to 1/2 of my inf. & all of my armour & mot.
inf.(or mech. inf)

Why have expensive mobile forces if they get held up by rivers, or get
counter-attacked?

Don't forget to research the techs.

The base stats for brigades are in the units file (in the db folder).
The various upgrades are set out in the tech files.

All brigades add to supply cost, and have varying effects.

The FAQ file has a link to Stony Road, which has the techs as of 1.04.
I have started making an Excel spreadsheet which brings in the 1.06 values, but this is unfinished.

You can look at the effect of brigades at your current tech by going into the build screen and varying what brigades to add. Brigades add MP, cost and time to build, but enhance effectiveness. The main benefit not shown on the build screen is that Engineer brigades reduce river crossing penalties (by 20% IIRC).

Thnx for all your answers....
I can´t really find my original manual so is these improvments any way described in TMP. As you say I can see the values of Hard attack etc. in the build menu but I was hoping for a description of those extra improvments like river crossing,mine-defense and likewise that does not show in values......
Or maybe the only thing is those ??

I dont think that the TMP has these bonus, but if you look through the relevent tech branches in research you will see what bonus totals your brigades will add.

I.e. Start a game and add the total pts from each stat that a tech gives the brigade and you will see what the bonus points are. Obviously looking at the techs to research will give you an idea of what they will add in future, depending on what you research.

The starting values will be different depending on what country and scenario you play.

I did start a matrix with these values, but I cant remember if I finished it. I will check if it is on my harddrive later.

Hope this helps in the short term.
