If you detach the brigade in dunkerque (which is encircled by allies - for those who dont know) and then lose the territory to them the brigade can still be found in the deployment list. I understand that this is a bug?

F

EDIT a way around this may be to make the unbrigade button greyed out if a unit is out of supply..

Well...it would seem so yes.
But that is also what I would like to call a consiousness bug...in other words...it is only a bug if you want it to be one.

a bug is a bug no matter how you look at it. The brigade cant be hidden in a farm.. :p

You´d be surprised of the things that can be hidden in a farm... ;)

Seriously though...this type of bug is something I see in a lot of games. And they really only are a bug if you want them to be.
If you don´t deattach the brigade I guess it dissapears with the rest of the units?

I, however, hope that there are no bugs like the infamous ghostunit bugs in HOI 2!!

If its a bug and there is a solution on how to fix it why do we have to ignore it? Along that line the ghost unit issue is also a bug "only if you want it to be"... as you dont need to exploit it.. do you now?

No. The ghost unit bug is definetely not a consiusness bug, since you have no control over it whatsoever. And the AI is affected too. And there is nothing you can do about it.

And I´m not so sure this brigade bug can be fixed. It is a quite obvious one and should have been fixed a long time ago if they knew how.

But since it is only a bug if you are prone to exploits...I don´t care too much. ;)

The ghost bug unit you could also create in HOI 1.01 thus could be labled as a "conscious" bug... Nevermind they will do as they see fit. If "obvious" things like that got through HOI1 - and many of their other games - why do you think it would not in HOI2. I bet you can find more bugs in this demo if one really wanted.

Yes...thanks! conscious is the word I should use...not consiousness. Embarrising. :eek:o
But what I mean by it...is that it only exists if you want it to exist. In other words...if you are encircled, do not deattach the brigade. Because that would be an exploit now that you know that this action will save it.

The ghost unit on the other hand you cannot do anything about. it will appear no matter what. Randomly.
And, yes, Paradox games have many bugs. You are right. But I don´t think this is the result of bad betas, bad programmers, or poor resources. I´d like to think this is the reslut of their titles being very much advanced, with much more features than in any other game.
And I´m sure there will be many bugs in HOI 2 too...but that won´t stop me from loving it if it is even half as good as the first HOI.

Christianx, please - I know what you mean... but I have to state again that it IS a bug (true its not a gamebreaker) as you cant detach a brigade to "save" it for a time when you get the terriotry back. I mean brigades consists of 1000 of men and equipment - you cant hide that. Its pointless to discuss if you can chose to do it or not to do it, as you could do that with many FIXED bugs in HOI1. In MP I am not going to argue with people about this or make house rules if this issue can be sloved in an easy way as I discribed.

I hope that with that we can close the subject..

Cheers

*Lol* Yes...I was just about to propose that we close the subject. This thread is starting to look more like a tennis match than anything else.
And, yes, in mp this bug could present a real problem. But unfortunately I never play mp anyway, since it takes too much time.

To finish it off...I hope you are right, that they can fix this bug without any problems. I remain sceptive though seems it really is very obvious. But no one will be happier than me if I am wrong.

Why bother saving a brigade when you can save both divisions? When the Allies attacked my Dunkerque divisions, I ordered them to counter-attack into Ghent. The Allied tanks coming from Ghent ended up in Dunkerque, while my divisions wound up in Ghent. It was hilarious. I didn't think it would succeed when I tried it. I quickly rushed in forces from Rotterdam to ensure the divisions weren't destroyed and to secure Ghent.

I suppose there´s only two roads betwwen the 2 provinces, both one-way in opposing directions, with a *really* high wall betwen them... that's the only logical explanation, because the brits drive on the left side, so if it was a two-way road, the two columns would crash into each other. ;)
