Brigade attachement

In HOI2 it was possible to attach brigades while in occupied territory if it was linked to your homeland.
With DD is not anymore possible. I have to be in Germany in order to attach brigades located in Berlin.
But the funny part is that if I detach a brigade in the occupied territory, the rule works in the same way! :wacko: I can't attach a brigade located in occupied Russia to a unit located in homeland Germany.
Right now I'm forced to use units on a "brigade tranfer" role: go in germany, attach, gross de border, detach, back in germany, attach cross the border, detach... and so on.

Is this a bug or what?

That you shouldn't be able to attach brigades when the unit is abroad seems to be logical. The only real issue is when you remove the brigade.

I really hope that they will add the possibility to strat.redeploy brigades to (or from) units in occupied provinces. IMO it's way to cumbersome to manage brigades when you're deep in occupied territory, like germany in russia.

Right. I understand the attatchment not being instantanious if you're in occupied territory, but that you couldn't have your artillery reach your infantry, even if they had 5 years to do so...

There was a rule change in version 1.3 of HOI2 which still is in effect for Doomsday: (from that readme.txt)

- Brigades can now be assigned to units in provinces that have the same owner as the owner of the unit.

This allows you to deploy brigades overseas if you own them (good part), but the reverse side is that you have to own the provinces to attach new brigades. Since it takes a while to make territory in the Soviet Union owned by Germany, this means that you need to somehow shuffle brigades between owned and 'just controlled' territory in order to then SR redeploy them within 'just controlled' territory. Or plan for this when you know the rule or just do without brigades due to the hit on TC or the hassles involved.
