Breeding and Eugenics

Has trait inheritance changed significantly in the last patch? My Empress is a genius, her husband is quick, and yet their first son is a hunchback. Just bad luck or should I be using a different marriage/breeding strategy?

The hunchback is also my heir. Do I have any options of removing him without changing succession law or outright assassinating him for 450g?

Just chalk it up as bad luck. Eugenics has actually become far easier in the new patch since the chance of inheriting traits has increased. There has always been a chance for bad traits to appear instead, though. It was actually kind of a joke before because it seemed that if only one parent had a good trait and the other didn't there was a better chance of getting a random bad trait then the good one.

And do what bilbo said about your son, or kill him off.

Execute/assassinate him. That's what I do.

I married my Genius Despot loaded with virtues to a Quick, Strong Queen with no blood relation so naturally their first son was a drooling imbecile with a harelip. That's the way it goes sometimes. Of course their two daughters inherited Genius and grew up to be exceptional ladies, that I married to my duke Kinsmen in the hope of getting a decent male heir out of somewhere!

You cannot give your primary heir a temple. The game won't allow it. Pretenders yes, primary heir no.

Change succession law or murder only 2 ways.

But if you have a genius ruler I would try to marry a strong wife. Then you can get genius strong offspring. Other then that you are doing it right. Sometimes you get a chip off the block and get a genius kid and sometimes you get a lisp or dwarf.
