Hello forum, let's talk breakthrough strategy. Typically, it's an armored division vs an infantry division. I've only played a few games, with a particular affinity for the 101. I've noticed a few things though.

1. Attackers should concentrate their main push. Push everywhere a little to keep the defender off-balance, but concentrate most of your armor and artillery down a particular lane. As defender, I usually don't feel like I can move units around too much without fatally weakening a position.

2. The defender's most useful resources are space and time. Defender should try to defend the whole map but give ground immediately. Engage the enemy then quickly retreat, ideally without him figuring out you've fled. Recon units with AT are love. Ambush a tank or halftrack, then scurry off. Don't fight a battle for too long. Attacker would love to attrition you.

3. Defender should hide recon in bad places that won't be found, then move in position later in the game.

4. 1200m mobile AT is love for the defender. A single m10 can really mess up an attacker's life until they get phase C heavy tanks. Even they, they still mess up the attacker because most of his units will be medium tanks and halftracks.

What do y'all notice? How can we all improve our breakthrough games?

How to win as Axis: attack: spam all of your ac, put them on a road, cover them with some command units and plane, fast move to objective. Search and destroy, gg.
Defend: pick 352th spam 88s and do ambushs. gg.

How to win as Alies: No way.

You just don't know how powerful of 2000pts AC rush is. Just unload commands squad and drop smoke when get ambushed. And send in plane to kill the enemy key AT.
Well, I am interested in finding out. But then again if I'm expecting it, it's not the same. My strategy would be to ambush your recon units with hand held AT and put a pair of fighters up. I'd kite you with 2 m10s into AT gun ambushes. Those m10s are boss. I usually defend with 101st.

Edit: I've been doing the mass amounts of tanks and halftracks with the 4th armored and it totally works, even against the 352nd. A pak 40 can only stop so many shermans, especially if one is packing a 105. I haven't yet tried just going all out for the objective though

I think first of all its best balanced for allies as attackers against axis deffenders as the aa of the allies has more long range and the at guns more ap, but the allies are faster in movment.

I played 20 games now with one of my friends adn the attacker never lost. I think its pretty simple to win, the first games we spread out to much and the other one just rushed through with a massed tank attack. So we learned to deffend more flexibel and a bit closer to the objective. This made the attacker use a slower progression with the help of a lot of artillery and scouts + planes in a , to kill as many at guns, mgs and aa guns as possible and than massing a hugh tank push in b. Even if we fought well and where lucky as deffender, the 1000 p advantage of the attacker was to much.

I think the savest way to win as attacker is, scout + arty in a and than a hard push in b. nearly unstopable.
