1525
Being unallied Prussia is the only ally I can find so in Feb we sign an alliance and in August add a royal marriage. In November there is a brief revolt in Silesia but the field army is already there and it is crushed without issue.
1526
Malemukes make peace with the Turks for 20d, Aleppo and Lebanon. The evil of the Turk shows no signs of slowing down.
1527
January, Casmir, Hero of Silesia and Moravia, passes away. The loss is deeply felt at both a personal level and on a state level. Shorn of our best leader the Electoral armies are not as fearful. November, we continue with our infrastructure improvements achieving another goal in our plan of expansion. In the same month, a new army arrives in Brandenburg (6600 men) which should help the rebuilding effort after the last war. In December, Helvetica, France, the Papal States, Navarra and Scotland go to war with Lorraine, Spain, England, the Palatinat and Poland. All Polish wars are good, let them bleed against some other foe.
1528
January we make an attempt to bring Sweden into our alliance with Prussia. The Swedes reject our offer. A mistake. In the same month, the Order, Hanse, Venice, Portugal and Hannover declare war on Sweden. Good fortune on the Electorates part to not get pulled into a war. This war is a brief affair and ends by June with a white peace. In August, the expansion of trade companies and facilities has finally started to show returns and things look better on this front although the multiple trading disasters still have us behind I feel. November I send a Letter of Inroduction to England to try and open relations with the naval power.
1529
I add Thuringen to my Prussian alliance in March.
1530
Hungary and Austria war versus the Turks and Wallachia. The war lasts only 3 months before a white peace is signed. That same month we declare out anti-inflationary policies a success.
1531-1533
January, the English convert to the true faith and I arrange a royal marriage. Unfortunately, they are in an alliance and so my only hope is that the alliance lapses. In March, we begin to see the outcome of our agricultural improvement efforts through out the lands. A massive peasant revolt breaks out in Western Pommerania- one I hope succeeds.
1534
January, the expansion of the fortress in Silesia begins. In September, I recast the alliance and bring in Wurrtemburg along with Prussia and Thuringen.
1535
April, the reforms of the army have finally paid dividends. June, the peasant revolt in Western Pommerania goes on. The Spanish fort still holds. In November our army makes further technological breakthroughs
1536-1537
August 1537, England at war with Scotland, France, Portugal, Vencie, the Order and Hannover. The peasant revolt in Western Pommerania is still on going but the fort still holds despite 14000 peasant revolutionaries.
1538
Horrors, Madgeburg has gone Catholic on us. We had long had reports of papal minions fomenting discontent in the province but by March of this year it appears the forces of the anti-Christ have won over the bulk of the population and several key nobles. In April, we further expanded our trading capabilities. The peasant revolt in Western Pommerania is still on going but the fort still holds despite 14000 peasant revolutionaries and 5 years of constant revolt.
1539-1543
June 1541, Spain finally crushed the rebels in Western Pommerania. Also, Saxony and Denmark join the ranks of the saved during this time.
1544-1550
My alliance collapses and I make an attempt to rejoin the Russia, Danish, Swedish, Pskov alliance but am rebuffed. I make attempts to turn the tide of diplomacy in my favor using letter of introductions and personal gifts during these 4 years. My efforts, while improving relations, do not find any free powers to attach myself to in alliance. I try and maintain a positive relationship with Wurttemburg via royal marriage. In July 1548, word spreads of unhappy peasants and minor isolated revolts. I am on the look out for a major outbreak of revolutionary fervor- especially in Catholic Madgeburg. The Turks, Wallachia, Nubia, Hedjaz and Georgia launch a war against the Malemukes and Persians. In 1550, Jean Calvin begins preaching his heresy of pre-destination. I worry about this continued rending of the fabric of the Pax Christi. I arrange a royal marriage with Prussia.
1551
March, Nubia takes Cataract and the Nile from the Malemukes ina peace treaty. October, England, Prussia and Poland go to war against Scotland. October, the heresy of Calvin has reach our lands and the Calvinist preachers have made great gains in Kustrin. We now have three major religions in a land of only 4 provinces. I fear greatly for the stability of the realm.
1552
In May, the Turks annex the Malemukes. August, Scotland pays England 152d for peace.
1553
Calvinist ideas spread as England and Helvetica change their state religions. February, Venice, Portugal, the Order, France, Navarra, and the Hanse declare war on Turkey, Wallachia, Tripoli Tunisia and Nubia. In April, Poland, Cyrencia and England declare war on Turkey, Wallachia, Tripoli Tunisia and Nubia. Can we finally be seeing the war to roll the Turks back? In May, the on-going Turko-Persian War ends and Persia cedes Kars and Kurdistan plus 57d to the Turks. In December, the Poles declare a separate white peace with the Turks. The terrible traitors to the faith have left the anti-Turkish forces without their most powerful member. I hope all good Christians remember this betrayal when dealing with the Poles.
1554
January, we begin construction of a refinery in Madgeburg with some reservations about papist plotters sabotaging the effort- stationing an army there should help things. In the same month, we enter a royal marriage with Thuringen. In May, the Russians, Danes, Swedes and Pskov yet again go to war with Kazan. I expect less than sterling results this time. July once more finds me not in any alliance and scrambling to find another set of allies. In October, the failings of the Doge continue as Istria is ceded to Wallachia by Venice.
December 1554, Poland, Spain, England Cyrencia, and Bohemia declare war on me!! Times are desperate. I have two armies of 18k men under the command of Johan Georg and Alcibidaes- I split my standard 35000 man standing army. The pair are excellent commanders and will be sorely needed during this trying time.
1555
January, Johan Georg moves into Silesia and beats a small Bohemian force and then defeats another detachment. From March to May a number of small (<5000 man) forces are defeated in Silesia from both the Poles and Bohemians. In May, we have another agricultural breakthrough. The big news comes from Silesia where George and his 12000 men defeat a 47000 man Polish army and inflict 6000 losses! Alcibidaes command has expanded to 36000 men through massive conscription so Georg is withdrawn to Brandenburg (to cover the Spanish in Western Pommerania) and Alcibidaes moves to Silesia. He arrives in August days after a 14000 strong Polish army begins a siege. Alcibidaes initates a battle and scores a decisive win- 11000 Poles fall and Alcibidaes’ army loses only 1000. In September the Bohemians send another army to Silesia of 10000 men. Alcibidaes falls on the force and routes it with light losses. The Bohemians fall back on Moravia and Alcibidaes takes the opportunity to pursue. In November, his 34000 man army finds the now demoralized 48000 man (the numbers include the recently routed Silesian force) Bohemian field force waiting for battle. Alcibidaes plans are once more brilliant. For a small loss of 6000 men the entire 48000 man Bohemian army disintegrates in the face of a savage cavalry pursuit. This catastrophe convinces the Bohemians to sue for a white peace which I eagerly accept not knowing how longer I can count of the Poles and Spanish to remain inactive.
1556
Alcibidaes fell back to Silesia after the white peace just in time to meet 18000 Poles- although his command had been depleted to only 20000 men as a result of his marches. Alcibidaes scored a third major victory in this war as he lost several hundred men while the Poles lost 11000. The Poles refuse my efforts at a white peace despite their major defeats. I decide to take the war to Poland and send a recently raised siege army into Western Prussia under Kuhn in May. George’s 13000 strong force turns back a 4000 man Spanish expedition in Brandenburg. Alcibidaes force is reinforced and the now 26000 man force defeats another Polish force- of 6000- with minor losses on both sides. During this time, Venice ceded Illyria and 250d to the Turks. Venice is basically finished as a power. The Poles continue to press on Silesia and avoiding the fortress in Kustrin or the siege army in Western Prussia. They send 35000 men into Silesa to try and best Alcibidaes in September. They fail. He meets the force on the move and inflicts a staggering loss- 17000 men to 1000 men. Even after all my victories I try to send a white peace to just end this ruinous conflict. The Poles refuse- do they know how close to broke I am (50d in the bank)?
1557
January to April sees almost no action other than my siege in Western Prussia. An ominous 75000 man Polish force sits in Krakow but does not move- I have reports the fragmented Polish nobility can’t agree on a commander. April, Western Prussia falls to my forces. In May, the Poles send me a peace offer: Western Prussia. I happily accept and the war ends. The unexpect addition of lands in a war in which my sole goal was to avoid the loss of lands is a testament to our soliders and leaders like Johan Georg and Alcibidaes . The war doesn’t end soon enough, I am broke and in a few months Alcibidaes will pass away to great sorrow at the court. Once more the Electorate has lost a great leader. I can only hope that war does not visit our lands again soon.
