Branch office sprawl cost

Hi all, apologies if this question has already been asked - I did a bit of digging and couldn't find it. Does anyone know exactly how much empire sprawl branch offices cause? I'm playing my first megacorp playthrough, and I had one branch office with a neighbour, that caused 1 sprawl (so I though it was +1, the same as districts). I then added two more, though, another with my neighour and one with an empire about 1/4 of the galaxy away, and the total sprawl from branch offices is now 4. I assume the further away one is causing 2, but I can't find any information in game to confirm that. Any thoughts?

Do you have the "Franchising" civic?

Normally branch office give 2 sprawl, with the civic 1.5. Which is displayed as 1, and for 3*1.5 = 4.5 it is displayed as 4
