I dont know about real world plausibility but i had this idea that i thought was pretty cool for a new trade system that isnt a huge overhaul
It would focus primarily on strategic resources. But instead of having some bonus for each resource the bonus applies per province, scaled to dev , and tradeable for other trade resources. its essentially a clever way to provide players with more resource exchange that ties with there geographical position.
For example, The Mamluks and all there grain in the Nile provides them with some amount of Force Limit modifier. But maybe they dont need this Force Limit? Maybe they need some diplo tech reduction or some other resource. Well it happens so that Venice across the pond has plenty of glass and is in the market for some FL modifier as they want to stand up to Austria and would greatly benefit from more force limit . So these two nations can trade these resources for a prearranged time. Or you could trade for straight up ducats or whatever. I like this idea because it pays more attention to the goods themselves and adds more flavor geographically and is more involved than just having a static bonus.
