***EDIT***

THIS VERSION HAS BEEN RECALLED. 1.6.2 is the new official release. Read about it here:

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...-update-1-6-2-released-checksum-d7ec.1029825/

You can opt in to 1.7.2 as a beta still if you want to help us test out our new multiplayer system.

***EDIT***

Hi all, Jamor here.

After a long period in open beta during which we were able to make many improvements to the new multiplayer system as well as work in some key gameplay fixes, the new Stellaris version, Bradbury 1.7.2, is now live for all players.

This version introduces our new multiplayer system, which uses our own architecture which will allow for better speed and stability over time. This has been designed and built from the ground up to enable us to have greater control over the multiplayer elements of our games going forward, so we can ensure the best experience for you. It features in game chat and friends adding for all Paradox account holders, and many more cool things to come. As a living project it will be continuously improved.

We're happy to be able to package this with gameplay fixes as well:

- Fixed starvation having no effect on happiness and growth
- Fixed drain Sector resources function not working with <200 Influence
- Stopped AI from nonsensically terraforming its planets and wasting a ton of resources
- Fixed Xenophile Factions wrongly considering robots to be "alien slaves"
- Fixed pre-sentients wrongly counting as slaves for the Xenoist faction
- Fixed Governing Ethics Attraction having no effect
- Fixed Devouring Swarms being able to conduct diplomacy with Enclaves
- Fixed issue preventing you from attacking the Unbidden Portal despite destroying the Anchors first
- Fixed rare crash when a threat was added
- Fixed crash when starting terraforming
- Fixed crash in swarm AI fleet update
- Fixed crash in swarm AI when a planet was destroyed
- Fixed crash when starting the game with mods that disable a tech module
- Increased society research gained by consuming Pops as a Devouring Swarm
- Stopped an exploit against the Scourge with resettling Pops to occupied worlds
- Fixed sector AI automatically deleting Slave Processing Facilities if they had less than 5 slaves
- Fixed missing terraform option for cold barren planets
- Retaking a planet from the Scourge now properly stops purging of Pops
- Fixed terraforming of inhabited planets causing tile resources to be reshuffled, because Betharian is pretty rad, but shouldn't be able to teleport
- Fixed some missing localizations
- Fixed Android defense armies wrongly being able to embark and invade planets
- Subjects will now always accept being gifted planets by their overlord
- Fixed incorrect city images for primitive civilizations

Plus here, have a space shrimp as a fully playable new race (I so wanted to give him a monacle and tophat, but sadly was overruled):

Solutions to common multiplayer issues here.

We want to thank our intrepid beta testers for blazing the trail with us here. We will continue to make fixes and improvements based on your feedback going forward. If, however, you do encounter serious problems with this new update, the first thing to do is notify us here, then you always have the option to roll back to previous versions.

Instructions on how to keep playing on older versions here.

Thanks everyone.

Nice. Did you fix that "launcher dies when press play" some people were experiencing with the beta bradbury?

I guess I can go check myself.

EDIT: Still crashes on pressing play with the launcher :/
Guess I have to revert back to Adams..

Hi. We finally found a reproduceable test case for the "can't launch" issue affecting some users and will release a patch for that with maximum possible speed. It couldn't be included in time for todays build because of time constraints, sadly, but at least we have a place to start with fixing it. In the meantime, if it still affects you, the option to roll back to version 1.6.2 (1.6.1 + gameplay fixes + no new MP layer) exists and should let you play normally until the patch can be made and tested.

Alright, good to hear. Hope it gets implemented soon! :)

I did not understand just one thing ... but how did we go straight to 1.8? It was like Adams 1.6, then 1.6.1. And then immediately 1.7.2 ... emmm? Or did I miss something?

1.6 was a big update. 1.6.1 was numbered because of fixes and patches. if there where more patches there would have been 1.6.2 1.6.3 etc. every new big update gets a new number.

Hi,

You were faster than me. But in case anyone else has the same issues there's more information to be found here: https://support.paradoxplaza.com/hc/en-us/articles/115007925347-Firewall-Connectivity-Issues

well the ports mentioned was with 1.6 .1.7 uses other ports to bypass the steam ones. im glad you made that because with 1.6 i had load times of 10 minutes to hotjoin. now the only thing that needs to be adresses is the huge cpu load of the pdxmp.dll files and why all players crash when 1 player has a crash or disconect.

There are some improvements on the radar :) Thanks!
