Heey, here is my idea for some National Brabantian ideas:

Traditions:
  • +5% Fort Defence, Due to the reversing of the water mills, entire plains could be set under water, greatly strengthening the defensiveness of the fortresses.
  • -5% technology cost, due to the city of Antwerp. A lot of innovative people lived there, but later left when Antwerp fell to the Spaniards in the Eighty Years' War.
Ideas:
  • Were Di: +10% Moral of Armies, local battle cry and national motto.
  • French blood: +1 prestige yearly, Whether true or not, Brabantian nobles claimed to descent all the way from the Trojan Priamus, who would also be the forefather of the French royal dynasties.
  • Spanish Capital of the North: +1.00 Diplomatic Reputation, eager to please their new overlords, the Spanish decided, as the Burgundians did before, to use the Brabantian cities as administrative and royal capitals for their northern territories.
  • The Harbour of Antwerp (or Legacy of Flanders): +20% Trade Efficiency, Rich traders from Brugge and Ghent had come to Flanders, making it a Venice of the north. Another possibility would be; Canals, which could boost the same.
  • Reversal of the Polders: +0.50 Attrition for enemies, Whereas generally the water was pumped away from the land so it could be used for agriculture, during times of war water could be pumped back. Turning the usually dry land into a swamp or even a lake.
  • Generaliteitslanden: +5% Manpower recovery speed, being the main battlefield between the revolting Dutch and Spaniards, the people had to learn to adapt.
  • Power Loom; 10% Production Efficiency, lot of households had a such a weaving machine to earn some extra money.
Ambition:
  • -10% Development Cost; Using mills to drain the swamps or even lakes, gave Brabant a substantial amount of land.
And yes, there is most likely a need for balancing this and suggestions are always welcome.
