It should have been an information before downloading a patch, not on a thread where someone is agry with the changes.

If we were to try and pre-empt every single thing the internet might get outraged out, we'd need hire a staff of writers for the job.

I'm fairly certain I've said these exact things in various threads spawned on this topic. I don't think forum outrage automatically necessitates an official response.

I am not answering in any kind of outrage, i think it's obvious. Thing is, we have just recently come to "patchwork" an answer from you from your various responses. I am good with that, although i would have prefered not an answer but a preventive announcement on dlc release, which would, i believe, make everyone happy, and would have clarified this decision in terms that no one would doubt it.

The idea of you getting banned has got nothing to do with free speech. If the police was going to arrest you, or you were being barred from posting these opinions on your own website, then you'd have an actual argument there. But currently you seem to think that "freedom of speech" means that forums.paradoxplaza is obligated to host your angry rants, which it isn't.

I think you are seriously over estimating how often people with the DLC actually increase development/unlock buildings through it.
In my case, in most games I don't spend anything on development. So I play the game in exactly the same way as you do (with regards to the number of building slots available to me)

I think you are blowing this out of proportion. Perhaps because you imagine the DLC owners having a much easier time than you do because of all the building slots they have. This is simply not the case. It is a rare occasion where I get extra building slots and even rarer where I actually need them. (in particular since the upgraded version of the same building doesn't take a second slot)

So really, you didn't lose anything that the rest of us didn't also lose. And you gained the same thing we gained, more meaningful buildings. It is slightly more obvious that with the DLC there is a way to invest in your territory, but that's about all. The investments are a fringe case unless you roleplay a city state. (or play ceylon I found) And in those cases the buildings won't be the reason you invest

For me that is not a problem. If the development stops for the vanila game, I have 0 problem with it. The game worked great without further patches, i.e. no big issues at least that I had.

The problem is releasing a demo and calling it a patch. Thats deceitful.

Then roll back to whatever version you like, and don't take updates. This is actually possible, you should try it. There were meaningful changes in this patch, which is not mean as a demo.

I agree it's a far better system. I also understand you couldn't develop or maintain the game keeping in mind both building systems.
But you know what? There was a very simple solution to all this. On launch of CS there could have been this little paragraph from you:
"The building rework would simply not have happened without development to link it to because the two were simultaneously designed. So, unfortunately, though we provide our customers with the new building system, since we can't maintain both, and with the new development system for their provinces, we need to keep the development raising system in the dlc, becuase it is a new feature (since you couldn't raise base tax etc. with the previous system). This will be locked for the people who don't own Common Sense. We are sorry but this is a matter of dealing with the cost of both developing the new system and maintaining the previous one. Thank you for your understanding.
However, the new system has this and those features, so we feel we are not taking away anything from your gaming experience, because even without the dlc, province development does (not) add this and this, and you will not feel any major difference.

No. Everyone who has medicore brain can know what you wrote without dev's comment. Company and its consumer don't have a relationship like teacher and students, so you can't blame company for not teaching consumers.

In essence yes! That and the fact that the dlc came out at the same time. If it did not say "cannot build without X" and the Dlc came out 5 months after, I would not have said anything at all!

Ok, at least now we are all clear about it! but, just to think about it, are you sure that it is intended as a form of advertising, or may it be that when the devs were working on it they simply added this line on the game for simplicity? Because you have to know that you cannot build. How you would have done it?

And yet you and a hundred others have nothing better to do then write your own little essays about why I am wrong... Hmmm... Is that not...stealish.. no metallic... no ahh I remember ironic.

As I said, It's a good... no well, a very good form of escapism, and discussing about It is normal. But, if something that is supposed to be a hobby makes you feel good ok, you'r doing it right, but if you get so nervous... well...

1 - Go to game companies forum telling people to boycott said companies products due to game balance change (that could be repealed by reverting to older versions or modding).
2 - Do not get insta-banned, but actually engaged in conversation by the games project lead.
3 - Feel oppressed.

Of course not. But i think those anticipations were expected.

To be fair, you missed all posts about this topic the last month and are coming with your own post now. So you wouldn't have read an official post stating that information either ^^

Of course not. But i think those anticipations were expected.

You'd be surprised. People grumble about all sorts of things posted in dev diaries, but it's always a crapshoot which complaints actually take off on release day. In fact, the increased core costs spawned about 20 times more outrage than the development changes, so that's what we should have been pre-apologizing for if we're going to pre-apologize (we're not).

Not really. Before the DLC and patches were released we had Dev diaries and youtubers who showcased said dlc (quill18, arumba, northerlion, etc), these are perfect source for the consumer to gather information about the dlc, what they changed/added. From the paradox's side, they provided you with a lot of information in order for you to make a calculated choice wether or not said dlc is worth buying or is trying to scam you.

There is no way your argument will hold up in any court. 'Paradox deceived me because I didn't bother checking up on what they're trying to sell' so the whole argument that it can lead to legal actions is pretty much invalid, as they did nothing illigal. The beauty about steam is that you can reroll back to an older version. Given the fact that you admitted earlier that the game was already in a pretty good shape before the patch and dlc were released, one can safely assume rolling back won't be a big issue for you.

The second thing that's beautiful about paradox games in general, is how much mod support they provide. You can mod it so that you have all 20 building slots unlocked from the start, removing the need to buy the DLC if buildings are your only issue. It takes 10 seconds to mod the game.

Then buy it, what am I doing to force you not to? All I did was say that I would no longer buy it and encouraged people to at least think about it. If everyone disagrees with me, then they can safely ignore my as the so politely said rant and we are done with it. If others agree with my point thoug, then is it not also a free market system for the consumers to boycott a product on what ever ground they feel like?

Also the private company line is a bit sketchy is it not, since forum is specifically there for consumers to discuss this product, not just to praise it?

The forum is here because we want it here. There is no legal obligation for a game company to maintain a discussion forum, and you have no 1st amendment right to post here.

I'm sure posting a thread and not having people agree with you tramples on your Free Speech somehow though.
