Not really. Before the DLC and patches were released we had Dev diaries and youtubers who showcased said dlc (quill18, arumba, northerlion, etc), these are perfect source for the consumer to gather information about the dlc, what they changed/added. From the paradox's side, they provided you with a lot of information in order for you to make a calculated choice wether or not said dlc is worth buying or is trying to scam you.
I think his point was that they changed the product _after_ he bought it, which may (who knows) be problematic if they hadn't also opened the way for this consumer to fall back to the earlier version and keep the original product, if said consumer disagreed with the changes

You'd be surprised. People grumble about all sorts of things posted in dev diaries, but it's always a crapshoot which complaints actually take off on release day. In fact, the increased core costs spawned about 20 times more outrage than the development changes, so that's what we should have been pre-apologizing for if we're going to pre-apologize (we're not).

Why not? Do a Chris Pratt Jurassic World type thing. All passive-aggressive and ironic. Could be fun. :)

I am not talking about game changes, i rarely complain about them, i go along because i think developers may know better, and will change what they found out is wrong.
You know exactly why phoenix and me are complaining, and it's not due to gameplay issues. There is no reason to continue this, i think both you and me understand what was discussed, and we both have our answers and can consider things in various ways in order not to repeat the same mistakes (both sides).

You just say that dev should apologize about what they do good for their consumers.

Oh, too poor consumers who can't even tell good from bad.

So if I understand this correctly that either means paradox has changed something in a patch. You can still reroll to the original version, from my experience it's always possible to do so. So the argument is still the same.

I know why you are complaining, but I don't agree that it's such a special situation that it requires a big apology or official explanation. As far as I'm concerned we gave everyone a better building system, and the people who bought Common Sense got a new feature that also happened to be linked into the building system as a secondary effect. You're free to disagree with it as much as you want but your disagreement is not special and does not need to be treated differently from any other disagreement our fans have with us.

I'm forever impressed by Paradox's willingness to allow these charades to continue, and to take the time to effectively destroy the idiots instigators "arguments." I'd probably just let them stew and make excuses when the community overwhelmingly shuns then (how many disagrees does the first post have now? 143?).

What a joke.

Indeed and well said.

For these who look for these nice pictures, maybe you guys should also go through my posts and see if I am in generall a troll and if in the 800+ posts I have ranted against paradox. Or have gotten a warning from them before today?
Maybe then you would understand that I am not a troll, nor a cry baby who has nothng better to do. But that this is a major thing that paradox has done that I think most here have missed. And I am sure that they will keep doing this, since as one can see from this post the great majority of users have accepted it and will even ridicule everyone who speaks out against it and misunderstand them to the point of calling black white and white black.

1st, 80 devs are not a small company, 2nd ... well yes its about influnce not manpower... duh... I.e. influnce, income etc. They are not some tiny inexperianced comany with 2 guys programing from their basement. They are a serious company who knows what they are doing.

80 EMPLOYEES not 80 devs. I think the total number of devs is more around 10-15 and PI is working on multiple games simultaneously (4 right now, I think: EUIV, CKII, HOIIV, and Stellaris). I don't think anyone claimed they were inexperienced, just that their resources aren't on the same scale as EA, which is sort of important to think about when it comes to how much stuff you can give away for free and how much you need to charge for.

Other than correcting obvious misinformation like that, honestly everyone here is just wasting their time. Phönix is not going to have his mind changed by any rational, well-thought out arguments.

It's unfortunate to see that free speech is just as misunderstood in Europe as in here in the U.S. It's not uncommon for someone to get fired or suspended from a company for saying something horrible (usually on social media) and masses of people to complain that free speech is being trampled. What we don't seem to have, despite our reputation to the contrary, is the strange lawsuit threats from people who are unhappy with a product. Not idiots who hurt themselves (like the person who sued McDonald's after spilling coffee on themselves), but people who just don't like it. Every once and a while here you see someone threatening to sue Paradox and it's almost always a European. Anyone in Europe have an enlightening explanation?

They're not ridiculing you for your opinions regarding development. They're ridiculing you for pretending that your posted opinions regarding the business model for a computer game is some grand battle in the war on free speech and for trying to act like an expert on consumer law while clearing having no knowledge of the topic. Try being less pretentious next time.

With that post I can mostly agree. The only part I disagree with is that this was not new. To my experiance this was new from paradox.

BUT, with the rest I do agree. You in no way have to either change your ways or appologise. I am not asking for anything of that form. All I am saying is that as a customer, I disagree with your decision and will no longer follow this company. It is my right to do so and I also believe my right to say why I am doing it and give others an understanding of it. If they agree with oyu (which seems to be the case) then thats their choice.

Thats all.

You don't need to be all that defensive. No one is special in the eyes of a company of course, and at the same time everyone is special.
I for example don't feel special regarding this topic. I felt deceived at the beginning, now i start to understand why you did it this way.
I just hope you will keep into consideration what was discussed today, and maybe, next time, you will try and soothen things.
Referring to your fans is not nice, it's like calling those who defended you on this topic groupies.
