Boycott Paradox interactive games!

Hi everyone. I am not sure how long this post will last here and if and when I will be banned for this. Lets face it, free speach is the latest casulty of cour once great civilisation.

But I can not just sit idly by and not expres my thoughts.

As you can all see from my "badges" I have been a faithful costumer of paradox for nearly 10 years now. I have bought many of their games, many of their expansions and as you can see from my posts if you care, I have defended them even during the Hoi3 release.

But this as they say is the needle that broke the camels back. To release a patch that is nothing but a hidden advertisment for a dlc is basiclly EA tactics at its finest. Its like dragon age with that campfire dudes trying to give you a quest. But this is even worse since now you can no longer build everything anymore.

For these of you who are saying that this is basically giving you half a dlc for free... well NO!. This is maipulatory advertisement. If they wanted to be customer friendly they would have released a demo version of their expansion that you could have download and tested for free. The difference between these two methods would have been that you would have known that you get a demo.

THAT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. I dont know if you guys know this or not, but for example the big channles on youtube etc. are REQUIRED BY LAW to make it clear when they are sponsored by companies. This is because the customer must know if somehting could be an advertisement. Because, BY LAW!, advertisement that is not labled as such is not allowed. Just cause the big (un)hollywood companies do it, does not mean its allowed.

This patch is manipulatory advertisement at its finest and a disgrace for a once great company.

I will never buy any of your games again paradox and I hope many here will follow me.

The advertising is comming from blocking you to build building without development and you only beeing able to develop if you buy a DLC. That is what I am talking about.

I agree that not being able to build anything with the most recent patch and without Common Sense is a problem, BUT you can choose an older version of the game in the Steam betas tab. This should solve the problem.

What are you talking about? It can't be the latest EU4 patch, because that was a month ago and this is the first I hear of advertisement, and you can't expect people to keep up with patches for games they don't play, so which patch for what game?

Oh god, not that again. Paradox introduced a new building system (specifically to reduce the amount of buildings you have access too) in patch, and the DLC made it easier to play tall.

If we go by the standards that make this patch into an ad, then every patch for EU4 and CK2 that has accompanied a DLC is an ad. The non-playable merchant republics was an ad for The Republic and Decadence was an ad for Sword of Islam.

Seriously, you get two choices for how Paradox handles DLC:
1) EU3-style expansions where buying the expansion is necessary to get more patches and further development of the game.
2) CK2-style DLC where the vanilla game is kept up to date (including bugfixing), but every patch has some of it's features behind the DLC paywall.

Since Paradox needs money to keep developing the game, those are the two choices for how you want EU4 to keep getting patches and keep getting more features. Which of those two do you prefer?

Again, if they had done this as a demo expansion, then I would have been even grateful. BUT they bundled it in the patch without a warning and that is manipulatory advertising. You know it and I know it, and paradox damn sure knew it.


EDIT: alternativeley this should have been a patch for only these who own the expansion. Thats they way they used to do it, thats the right way to do it!

I only found about it today, so thats when I am posting it. I was playing an older version since the veritas mod only worked with the last one a while ago. So until I finished my game I did not update. When I did, I started a new game... and thats when I found out about it after a little while. So thats when I am posting it.

You can build buildings without Common Sense. The difference between the patch and the expansion is that you can build 1 (one) more building per 500 so monarch points you spend. You could also very easily mod the game to give yourself 12 building slots in every province. Calling this 'advertisement' shows that you have absolutely no idea as to the meaning of the words you're using.

if only they would with their wallet but they wont. We all know how gamers are.

As I said, I am done with this company.. I will at least try to be honest with myself... thats all I can do.
