I don't recall it looking weird, though I've never given it a close look in game.
Anyway using hte cross flag is ahistorical in the first place and the historical approach is using the three crowns, but that was scrapped years ago as too many non Scandinavians coudln't see the difference between the French lilies and hte Swedish crowns.

The three crowns is ahistorical by this time. That's the medieval coat of arms.

Instead its lions quartered with three crowns.

two lions regardant, crowned and with forked tails (queue fourchée) Or armed gules, standing on a compartment Or
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Vasa

Sweden adopted a new coat of arms in 1442 that is similar to Gustav Vasa's coat of arms and Gustav Vasa introduced the coat of arms of Sweden still used today.

I don’t think it was ignorance so much as the symbols were too small in most of the UI to tell the difference at a glance.
It’s not like it’s the only ahistorical or unsuiting flag in the game.

More provinces adds more depth, but in your opinion, how many should CoC have added?

The "greater middle east" is more than twice the size of India so i would say 250 provinces, but i'm also of the philosophy that unpopulated but traversable provinces (like deserts) are best depicted with many, many provinces, so as to make it suicidal to try and cross it, of course i know the AI can't handle this, so a solution needs to be developed for this (for example, certain cultural modifiers giving +100% supply in deserts, or if a nation controls a large % of their own territory as deserts they get a bonus for supply on deserts, special bonus for the AI, stuff like that)

Ideally there should be the same density of provinces all over the world, and then apply the necessary geography sculpture to make it match reality (i love the impassable terrain as depicted in EUIV, i want more of it) dunno why we started out with a map that's unbalanced from the get-go.

Yes you are mostly right (those maps are not really that accuratem, there are supposed to be over 100 million people in NA before contact with europeans.) so balacing population and land area, deserts, mountains, and stuff like that should give you roughly equal amounts of provinces. This is the thing, if you want to march your army through a mountain or desert it was hell, and it was mostly never done, so with few provinces in the game it becomes very easy to cross this barriers. Different philosophies for different issues. Because of how the game works, crossing 10 desert provinces is not the same as crosing 2, even if they are big provinces it just doesn't represent the difficulties that nations in that area had to deal with. I'm not for deterministic games, but geography plays a role in shaping the borders of empires, and i think it can be implemented to a larger degree with existing mechanics.

So, according to the list of features from Steam and wiki, almost all of major additions were mentioned in the diaries, except using colonists for TC's development. How far DLC and 1.26 are from realese?

Any ETA for this update/expansion?

I'm woefully behind on EU4 expansions because it's just irritatingly sluggish on my system and I can't seem to find a solution from PI tech support. :(
