Hi all

I've got a couple of questions on Boundary Disputes & Claims on our Rivals that I cant quite figure out from the wiki. Can anyone answer the following questions for DW 5.1 (or 5.2b)?

1/ Boundary Disputes - The wording on the wiki says that this is much more likely with a ruler with diplomatic skill of 8 or 9. However, I always thought that having an Ambassador that increased diplomatic skill would help. So does this event look only at the ruler's diplomatic skill or the ruler's skill plus the ambassador's skill? (I assume that the diplomatic skill increase from SoI doesnt apply)

2/ Claims on Our Rivals - The wiki says this needs a ruler of diplomatic skill 6+ and a border with a rival country. Again does an Ambassador's skill help here?

3/ Claims on Our Rivals - The wiki also says this is triggered only. What triggers this? Is it a new monarch or something else?

Thanks for any replies.

The actual base skill of the ruler is all that matters when looking at events. The bonuses from advisors and other effects only apply to the "dice rolls" for diplomatic actions with other nations.

I believe (but am not positive) that claims on our rivals is one of the possible events triggered by the regular random event pulse. There is a group of events available and once every 2 years one of them is randomly chosen.

Thanks brifbates - thought that might be the case for the Boundary Dispute but thought in previous versions that ambassadors helped. Maybe it was changed at some point.

1 & 2: Ambassadors won't help here and I'm pretty sure they never did. They just affect direct diplomatic actions between countries, and never events and decisions.

3: It is triggered only because it is a pulse event (at least, since 5.1). So, when the conditions are satisfied it can be triggered once every 2 years, if selected out of all eligible pulse events.

The current state of the article doesn't present this in a very helpful way, unfortunately, but I have yet to update my event parser to display pulse events better.
