I got LoR last week, but I haven't been able to determine if it's running. I don't see anything on the main menu, I can't raise retinues, and I didn't see any new events when I played as a count in Byzantium. How do I know if the DLC is loading properly?

Playing as a count, I'd be surprised if you could raise retinues.
Your ability to raise retinues is affected by the number of your levies, and your military organization tech level. If you have less than 5 or 6 counties at the beginning of the game, you won't be able to raise retinues.
Try a trial game starting as somebody big (just HRE, or ERE) quickly, try raising retinues. If it works, you've got the DLC.

In the main menu on the bottom left should be a symbol. Only main DLCs will show. You have to check it in the launcher to load.
This is interesting. I checked my dlc011.zip folder. It contains 2 subfolders: interface and gfx. The interface subfolder contains only orthodox_councillors.gfx. Is this WAD? Or is my DLC missing a few folders?
Thats what i got as well, but currently i don't play with LoR so i can't say for sure. So did yo check the DLC in the launcher and did it show in the main menu ?
It's not showing in the main menu, but it appears on the launcher.
I was having this issue. Try turning off your virus control, accessing the in game store, re-downloading LoR through there, and restarting the game. That fixed it for me.
With DLC not showing first thing to do is to restart the computer and/or Steam. One or both usually helps with DLC not showing up or working.
But my Crusader Kings 2\dlc\dlc011.zip folder has only \gfx and \interface subfolders. Aren't there supposed to be more? Like folders with extra events, something activating the retinue tab, something to display the LoR symbol in the lower left of the main menu, and so on?
All other stuff is in the base game. DLC's fund the patches and usually only include stuff that doesn't effect the checksum. There isn't ment to be anything else in the files than those folders and their contents you mentioned.
Strange. The icon still isn't appearing in the main menu, but I can build retinues now (test game: 1337 start HRE). So something worked.
Its not on the main menu its over the description of the scennario when you chose your character on the map or load the save from it.

oAs Wezqu said, its actually in the player select page, the one after the main menu.
