Bought game through Steam, game won't load up

Hiya,

As the title said, I bought the game when it was on sale a little while ago but did not play as I was waiting for my new laptop to arrive. New laptop is now here (yay!) but the game will not load. I get the screen offering me to register or start the game, I click on start, but nothing happens. Nothing at all, no matter how long I leave it for. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no difference. If I could have some assistance with sorting this, or to be told if this is an issue that we are awaiting a patch for, that would be grand. Thank you!

Add your DxDiag.txt amd text from error.log from My Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\log folder.

Also run the exe with admin privilages.

Please try installing:

After that: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=8328

Then: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
(If that doesn't do anything then http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 )

Then: visit the Windows Update site and allow it to apply all .NET updates/patches it wants to, for all .NET versions.


Then right-click on ck2.exe and ck2game.exe and set them to run as the Admin user, and to disable desktop composition.
And then check if you can run the game after that.
