Has anyone noticed that Bosnia consistently beats the crap out of Serbia in wars? Serbia starts out pretty strong, but Bosnia just keeps building army after army after army, Serbia runs out of money after the first couple armies, but as Byzantium playing against Bosnia, it seems like they have infinite funds! I got a 400 ducat peace settlement out of them, and they up and build a bunch MORE troops and proceeded to kick Serbia's butt again, and Serbia STILL hadn't built anything...

Is the rest of Europe funneling cash to them or something? Rational thought figures that a 2 province nation has an advantage over a 1 province nation, but Bosnia ALWAYS ends up taking Kosovo, and Serbia then gets eaten by Hungary...

hmm, quite off topic, but has someone noticed that the bosnian flag in game resembles very much the current bosnian flag, being an invention of 5 years ago? ;)

Could it be that Bosnia, as a Catholic state, gets all kinds of loans and gifts from the other catholic states, whereas Serbia gets help from no one at all, and indeed usually picks a fight with everyone nearby?

Perhaps because it was "invented" using the traditional medieval Bosinan flag? :)

Actually, in most of my games Serbia ends up pounding on Croatian and Bosnia, annexes them both. Unfortuneatly for them, Hungary gets mad, and squishes it shortly thereafer.

MKJ,

I can't explain the general occurances. I have observed it as well.

However, in the situation you described may be due to the fact that when a human goes to war against an AI nation (i.e. Serbia), the other AI nations send cash to the AI in trouble (Serbia).

perhaps not? :)
i became suspicious when i saw in the original eu the bulgarian tricolour as medieval flag. Well, it is changed now so now it`s time for bosnia.

Historically, it'd be folly to say that most national symbols weren't more or less invented in the 19th century, just as nationalism was. :)

I'm not sure I agree, to be honest. Some national symbols were invented, and many national myths and "ancient traditions" were invented, particularly in places like England.

However, national (or kingly or state) symbols - such as Poland's White Eagle, England's lions, Venice's Leone Marciano - had existed in some form long before the 19th century. Even if they were given a nationalistic flavour in the Victorian era*, they had still been around for a lot longer.

Zagloba

*and two of those symbols were history by 1800, in any case.**

** though one staged a last-minute comeback in 1918 :)
