So i've been wanting to do a play-though with Cesare Borgia becoming a Monarch. Is there any way to do this? Main reason is because i want to shape the Borgia Dynasty into an Imperial Monarchy.

The only year he or anyone from this dynasty is available is in the year 1502 as the Ruler of Siena. Now i really want to make Machiavelli proud and turn this ruler of a Republic into a Monarch but can't seem to find a way to do it.

Help plz?

I've tried lowering the Republican tradition to 0, all that got me was a dictatorship that can't have Royal Marriages anymore.

TL:TR
Is there anyway to transition a ruler of a republic into a Monarch? as in the same guy or at the least the same dynasty? Cuz after Cecare Borgia died, a damn Medici became the King of Siena.....

You'd have to rush forming Italy to turn directly into a monarchy without getting a different ruler, but even then I don't think you can keep the Borgia dynasty. Mechanically speaking, the game doesn't know that Borgia is a dynasty, and it will assign a different dynasty on top of it if you become a monarchy, and only that new random dynasty would pass on to your heir.

So you'd have Cesare Borgia di Medici (for example) until he dies, and then just <first name> di Medici after that.

edit: Catalan does have de Borja as a random dynasty available to it, so you could try as Aragon. Or culture shift an Italian nation, if that feels better.

sometime some there are rebels who want change the government form, you can let win them.
But if you play as Siena and you form Italy, Italy will become automatically a kingdom and the leader which you have formed Italy will become the king (and so the dinasty)

hmmm....Forming Italy huh.... will try it, dunno if i'll be able to do it in time with that AE and coalition penalty. Hopefully I'll be able to keep Borja as a dynasty tho. Would be VERY weird and a-historical to have a Borja de Medici......

You could use the ruler creator DLC or the customizer DLC. Or the console. Or savegame edit.

I know there's always that option, but I wanted to take a republic and make it fall into a Monarchy using the Borgia Dynasty specifically within the game. Consoles are the easy way out.

There should be some option to do this in-game.
Like a decision or something where if your Republican Tradition is low and your Ruler has high Prestige, a decision becomes available to proclaim the Ruler a Monarch. Giving some nasty revolt penalties of course, but it should be something that can be attempted. But only if you have a Noble Republic, or that Dictatorship that seems kinda stupid if you ask me.... I mean, the elections allow your Ruler to 'level up' if you keep him, what does a dictator get?

With no Dynasty, a Dictatorial Republic with a ruler that never dies seems like a very stupid form of government unless the Rulers have a higher chance of being very good after one dies, to symbolize only the truly strong and respected being able to Rule instead of by Blood.

Cesare Borgia rules the Duchy of Urbino in 1502, try that.
