You better REALLY beat down those guys who always want to lower CA next time. You know the saying: Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
Having a genetically engineered super ruler helps a lot in these cases, too ;)

Why not just give in to their demands? Having your crown authority lowered is generally not much of a problem. It is only really when you are working at changing your succession laws it matters.

What is your CA at? I can only speak form experience but I always seem to get continuous lower CA factions at medium or higher. It seems to drop substantially at limited CA and you can always bump up CA later on. Other than that, all you can do is try to keep your vassals approval rating at 66+ and try pick of faction leaders whenever you can. Independence are always a more persistent problem in my games than lower CA factions.

Actually I personally wish more that more crown authority factions would fire against me. I have never had one fire. It is almost always independence and sometimes claimant. You must be doing something strange to get so many to fire.

I can accept that I'm missing something, but I really don't see what, short of imprisoning the faction members and become a tyrant. Bribing them doesn't help and scheming only works once every twenty years (that spymaster task is kida ridiculous if you ask me)...

What do you do when schemers start piling up?

Scheming worked perfectly for me, but probably you' ll need a spymaster above 15 and a realm intrigue above 25/30, though i can't say for sure as i haven't checked the files.
If you have a good chancellor still can use him to better relations, though maybe there are hanging too many guys around with a claim on you or/and Dukes want provinces you hold or counts demanding duke titles
and these are pretty good reasons for them to have factions in the first place.

Vassals can work their way up to make themselves worthy challengers for the King title. Inheritance issues with titles going out of the realm.

France's situation is that for some time, other kingdom might be formed (like Kingdom of Aquitaine) and therefore there is always a pressure to lower the CA until that de jure claims are gone.

All you can do is try to satisfy them as best you can. If you don't have 65+ approval rating with your vassals they will probably create factions and they only way to stop them is to try and satisfy all their demands , give them bribes and honourary titles, and other things you are probably already doing. Or you can hope they plot against someone in your realm and you can arrest them penalty free  The root of the problem may be your leader if he has negative traits or low diplomacy so improving your diplomacy traits (or breeding them) will help a bit. Factions are a always a pain, which is WAD unfortunately :(. Like I said before though, you may be better off just giving into their demands and lowering crown authority.

The nice thing about having mostly kinsmen as vassals is noone can ever "work his way up". If some guy decides that he wants to be the aggressor and attacks a fellow kinsmen he will be roflstomped to the ground. It's kinda funny to see a war 100 vassals against 1 :D

That's a good idea!

I only do these things when the character allows it. If my king is a trusting, kind, honest, just man... I won't do any of those things. I'll probably be the dumbest king in history, but I won't do bad things or kill people.

But if it's an arbitrary, cruel, mad hatter... well, hello Joffrey! Let's have some fun!

Also, if you win that faction war, you can revoke one title for free from every vassal who joined in. Redistribute and rebalace your realm, that always helps.
