You might want to be a bit more specific.
Are you looking for actual history books, papers about specific persons or countries, maybe even a novel?
What is your interest: Economy, Culture, Art?; should the focus be on people (commoners or aristocrats?) or on the countries itself?
Which era specifically (not much literature will cover the full ~400 years)
What region do you want to read about? Or should it be something like a comparison between Europe and Asia (a lot of those exist for the 18th and 19th century)

Here's one book I can recommend: Geschichte Chinas
It's a good overview for China from around 10th century BCE until today. Focus is mostly historical but also some explanations about chinese culture.
Oh, it's in german - this is another thing you should specify: which languages do you understand?

I read this summer "After Tamerlane: The Rise and Fall of Global Empires, 1400-2000" by John Darwin, Absolutely amazing. It covers every major empire of the world after the Timurids. So it follows pretty much all the EU4 timeline everywhere in the world. It ends in modern day, though (about half of the book is after EU4 ends)

Napoleon: A Life by Andrew Roberts has been a very good read :)
Obviously, though, it’s a very narrow focus. But it gives great insight on the life, motivations, and events surrounding one of the largest historical figures of the period.
