I am a big fan of Sniggle's bookmarks mod which can be found here on the Steam Workshop. However, it's very out of date and the mod creator doesn't seem to have the time to update it. However, he/she said that the HIP mod and CK2+ mod both have an updated version integrated into their overhaul mods.

Sometimes I play HIP and CK2+, but I tend to favor the simpler vanilla experience for different reasons. I was wondering if the creators of HIP could release the bookmarks mod as a standalone or supply the necessary files to someone who has the time to do it? Thank you and keep up the great work!

The file attached to this message (included in EMF, but not actually installed if you also pick SWMH in the HIP installer) should work with vanilla CK2. Copy it to the vanilla common/bookmarks folder.

I put it in the folder, but in the game the description is missing from all the bookmark dates. What do?
Copy the attached file into your localisation folder. (Again, this is included in EMF but not actually installed if you also pick SWMH in the HIP installer.)

Looks like that fixed most of them, but 3 are still missing a description. Osman's Dream, Scourge of God, and Khitan.
For some reason the localization for those bookmarks is in a different file (attached).

Where did all these extra bookmarks come from btw? Did the mod author just research all of them himself?
To get the ones I have currently I've used both my own knowledge of history and user suggestions to come up with new dates, but by-and-large I got them by going through the dates covered by CK2 month-by-month and looking out for interesting changes. This has its faults, though, mainly in that I can't see what vassal power or claims look like, just the political map.
And as someone who modified EMF/SWMH version of the bookmark mod, I can also add that Sniggle knew things in Europe much better than he did outside. EMF/SWMH version of the mod fixes that by changing the dates and description for bookmarks featuring developments outside of Europe.

Looks like that fixed most of them, but 3 are still missing a description. Osman's Dream, Scourge of God, and Khitan.
I believe those bookmarks come from a VIET submod from back in the day.

That is certainly very true; Europe was (and is) my historical focus and area of expertise. I'm glad of the improvements the HIP version has, which is why I use it exclusively now.

That said:

Also, I'd hate to get nailed for unauthorized copying of another person's mod.

I don't expect you or anyone else to maintain the mod as a standalone, but as noted in the original mod thread, I gave blanket permissions for use and maintenance, so long as I'm credited. If anyone wants to pick it back up and maintain it as a vanilla standalone, I have no issues with that. You can even change the name of the mod, it's not like I exactly went Shakespeare with it. As long as I'm still credited anyone can do whatever they want with it.
