In this current state of Hoi4, the AI will cheese ball you in the peace conference because they did some bombing. The Soviet Union is the biggest offender. He will declare war on the axis when after you have spent blood sweet and tears physically conquering the all of the axis members. But what happens? The soviet union has declared war on the axis... ah no big deal he cant get much war score because i control everything right? Wrong he gets 1000 points from bombing putting him at or near the top of the war score. Please fix this paradox.

I just had a friend play as communist china. He knocked the Japanese out of China and than naval invaded Japan and took all of Japan and made him surrender losing over 2 million men in the process.(Japan was not in the axis so the peace conference fired). What happened? The soviet union who declared war on Japan a few months before and who only lost 8k men got to sit second at the peace conference with 600 points because you guessed it: bombing. The Soviets puppeted menguko and manchuko and took tokyo because they inconvenienced the Japanese with some bombing runs. Needless to say this ruins the game and makes people rage quit.

Actually every single bit of that "scoring" table is more or less useless. You can somewhat compare factions to each other within a single column but you certainly can't judge anything by the overall total or compare one column to another. It is not even a simple case of apples and oranges. A lot of things in this salad are not even fruit.

It would have been nice if that score actually reflected in any even semi-rational way how a faction had performed overall. This would allow MP games to be played to a certain date and then if neither side had collapsed a minor victory could be awarded to one of them on points. I certainly would not suggest doing that with that score table in its current form, even if you throw out the worst columns.

EDIT: oops I see you are talking about the other messed up scoring system, the one that leads to peace conferences. There is no doubt in my mind that the entire war score and peace conference system needs a complete rework. The only thing I can say in its favor is that it is better than the situation with post-war Europe that arose from the scripted systems used in older versions of HOI. In those the Soviets could drive all the way west and take Paris and still East and West Germany would get split along the historical line.

Yeah, war score could use some rework. IMO, it should primarily be based on in this order: value of provinces captured, value of enemy troops/ships/planes killed, and bombing of enemy infrastructure. One of the keys is it should be "value" not just "number" high infrastructure/factory provinces are worth way more low infrastructure/factory provinces and killing planes/ships/tanks/etc is worth way more than infantry. Bombing infrastructure should definitely be worth considerably less than those 2.

I like the idea that if you bomb a factory and stop it from producing 100 tanks, then that's equivalent to destroying 100 tanks. However real peace treaties would say killing 100 tanks is more important.

The game seems to weight it the other way.
