Im playing with Sweden (joined axis) and, due to lack of manpower I kept building CAS all game long and now in 1946 i have like CAS 35 squadrons. They were really effective in helping the German campaign in SU, completely destroying hundreds of soviet divisions.
But most of the times I put them to "ground attack" ALLIED units they do absolutely no damage at all. 35 CAS units attacking like 5 allied divisons, on flat terrain, clear weather - no damage. Even if i leave them to bomb for months, there is no effect. Am I missing something, doing something wrong or is this just a bug?

Another issue i have - I managed to disembark in Scotland and captured Glasgow and everything north of it. But in Edinburgh, the allies massed a huge stack of 60 divs, that just keeps growing, and i have no idea how to take that out. I tried putting all my airforce to attack it, again with no effect. How do you guys deal with those huge stacks of units?

If a unit isn't moving, it digs in. The more it digs in, the less bombing damages it.

To root out dug in units like you describe in Scotland, set some TACs to logistical strike and try to cut off supplies with convoy raiding (or in some cases encircling them). Wait for the infrastructure and supply dump to dwindle. Set a few TACs to interdiction. Get a fieldmarshall and a HQ in each adjacent zone and attack with overwhelming force.

If the first time doesn't get them, the logistical strikes will prevent the units from recovering org as quickly as you and lack of supply will also help to do this. Second attempt should clear them out.

:) Most people either go cas/tac or tac/str with majors. As a minor, I would go purely with tacs. CAS just don't have the range and are really only much use when you've already won the battle or for anti-shipping.

Well yeah i agree, they are not much use after the battle is won.

Considering Sweden has limited research/IC capatibilities, i wanted to specialize in something. I ve never built CAS's before so i decided to try them out.

I found them pretty useful in the SU invasion...the low range didnt really bother me, since there are plenty of airbases. Its true they wont be of much use elsewhere but ussualy once you defeat the SU u ve basically won the game.
