I would like to discuss the bombardment mechanics. I think that the probability for killing pops (and creating tileblockers for full/armageddon) is way too low. At the moment, bombardment stances just feel like a slider for how fast you get fortifications down (and you can do that already by just bringing more ships).

As an extreme example: I had a war yesterday which was fanatical purifier vs fanatical purifier and during the entire war (which was fairly long) not a single tileblocker was created although both of us were using armageddon stance.
When I saw that I was not able to demand cleanse for his capital world, I changed plans to instead turn it into a barren wasteland. However, I gave up on that as well since it just takes too long and my fleets have other things to do than bombarding for years and years.

I thought the armageddon stance was meant as an additional mechanic for FP to purify the galaxy without incorporating everything as it is pretty hard to go against everyone and everything without even the help of enclaves, but doesn't seem so.

So here's my suggestion: change the pop-kill/tileblocker check from monthly basis to a daily basis with a value that works out at least twice as high as it is now (so around 3%/day instead of 15%/month for a killed pop at full bombardment stance).

While I don't think that pop damage due to bombardment should just be flat-out doubled, I do think that specifically Armageddon Bombardment should do more pop damage and less fortification damage.

Not sure I agree. The game is not supposed to be like Moo2 where you glass a colony after 5 mins. You just end up beating empires very quickly.

I understand that the devs do not want destroyed planets everywhere, but as I said, at the moment the bombardment feels like just being there for removing fortifications and the stances seem to make no real difference whatsoever. I want to feel like my choice of using light bombardment makes a difference. Therefore it should somehow reflect that I want to use the population on cede-targets for my own later, whereas I would not care as much for the pops on other planets that I am just bombarding/invading for warscore.
The stances should already have visible effect in the time it takes to get the fortification down imho.

The Fleet size only applies up to 200 Naval Cap to bombardment power. The Minimal Form also stops killing pops the moment foritifications are down. So it is already a sort-off purge.

Overall this goes into a future rework of Space and Ground combat. Wich could be the next big Overhaul.

This is also why I am suggesting to change the check-period. With a 200k fleet most fortifications will be down well within the 1st month. It just does not make sense logically that a few ships bombarding selected targets on a planet one after another are likely to cause more civilian casualties than a large fleet bombarding all of the targets at once. Another option to daily checks would be tying the check to a certain fortification strength brought down, i.e 20% chance to kill pop per 1000 fortifications (numbers just as example).

The thing is that even with the increased chance to cause side efects, heavier bombardment is less likely to cause casualties. If you micro them down to Minimal stance again.
The reason is that the defenses go down all the more quickly, so less time to cause damage.
