Saw this in another thread, thought I'd bring it up here

Bolted HoI is completely de-linked from the core files. You don't need to de-install to go back to normal HoI, you just click on one of the normal scenarios and you are back to normal with normal Ai normal country files, etc.

Bolt, I don't know if you are aware of this; I have Bolted 1.02b installed, and the events occur (eg Italy, Manpower, US war entry) even in the 1939 scenario.

Either I installed it wrong, or it does affect the core files.

That isn't possible unless the installation is screwed. All my custom events are in a separate event file called "bolted_events.txt". Only the Bolted scenario .eug references this file. The 1939 standard scenario .eug, for example, nowhere contains any file reference to the bolted_events.txt file at all. There is no way for the standard scenario to call up the custom Bolted events.

Do a quick test with 1.02c. I now have an announcement event that fires for all human players on January 2, 1936. If this event is firing in 1939, then somehow your standard events.txt file got replaced and has a reference inside it to bolted_events. This could be possible if you installed 1.02a Bolted and then, without uninstalling (completely) HoI and then reinstalling it, patching it, and then installing 1.02(b or c). The de-linkage of my scenario did not occur until 1.02b. In 1.02a I was still using the standard default events.txt file to include the bolted_events.txt custom event file. If you "layered" 1.02b on top of 1.02a without, as I said, a total de-install, you will have linkage to all standard scenarios for custom events. The de-linkage will be in force only if you install 1.02b (or greater) over a fresh install of HoI. Note that simply "de-installing" HoI by the standard method is not enough because some files don't get de-installed, and this could preserve a linkage. You have to manually delete every file on a HoI install.

I want to emphasise this very clearly :

THERE IS NO OVERWRITE OF CORE OR DEFAULT FILES with Bolted HoI except for :

counter colors
province.csv
and the default.ai file which is used for minor powers.

The province.csv change affects a few infrastructure and resource values in various provinces, and this will in fact change in future versions of Bolted HoI. It does not alter the game balance in any way, except that it allows some of the minor economies (slovakia and Republican Spain) to function at more than zero IC.

That's the problem.

Thanks for the info.
