Agreed that there are limits on how fast an advance into enemy territory can be and that is the key element to get right, but my problem was how disconcertingly Montgomery-like they could be when trudging through friendly territory. Sampling the local pleasure-pots, no doubt. It doesn't seem like ownership of the territory affects the movement speed. This would seem to be a hard-coded issue for Paradox.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could send them by rail (but how Strategic Redeployment decides what provinces are eligible for placement in each case baffles me, as it varies from national provinces to annexed to annexed and occupied).
Maybe it's just me, but the alternative of armor and mech "carrying" infantry just seems to slow the whole unit down to infantry speed.
