September 9th 1678 AD

Dear Diary,

After the first battle in Silistria a second occurred a week and a half later. Viktorin Brno succeeded where his brother Jan had failed, but that was thanks to the hard work already done by Jan.

Later in July General Aleksandr Lablonec died of disease.

The Ottomans still had a lot of cavalry left, but our alliance, even without Poland, now equaled the opposing infantry while our infantry was much more advanced and better trained. Also almost no artillery was left in the enemies armies. Ak Koyunlu was officially in the war on Ottoman side, but so far we have had no encounters with their armies.

After some recuperation time the major cities in Silsitria were stormed and taken over an 18-day period.

By the 20th of august the new General Mikolas Pardubice had arrived in Rumelia to take command of what was formerly Aleksandr Lablonec' army.

The Grecian Campaign is almost finished with a victory and occupation of Morea.

While I'm writing this the Brno brothers are advancing north along the Black Sea coast to continue the Bohemian conquests now that the Balkan is as good as secured.

April 18th 1679 AD

Dear Diary,

While on campaign the Court gave several formerly Ottoman provinces taken in the first two wars against them full citizenship with all the rights and duties that come with it.

The Brno brothers started a massive offensive that brought them to Basarabia which they occupied before Christmas 1678. The offensive halted during the winter but was restarted again in March 1679 with the occupation of Dykra.

During the winter of 1678-1679 a new modernization of the army was organized and the troops became even more advanced and efficient.

While the Brno brothers are advancing north Mikolas Pardubice has just started advancing east. He crossed the Bosporus when it was apparently free of Ottoman galleys and quickly occupied Izmid on the other side.

Where are all of the OE's armies? They outnumber you greatly. Where can they be?

Don't forget Ak Koyunlu is an ally of the Ottomans and quite powerful. I think the bulk of what you see in the war overview is Ak Koyunlu's armies.

3 years since you've taken your first provinces...nearly 5 years to go before them become yours if you have the Dynamic War events... Problem is still when the ghost armies will appear

Have they offered peace to you ? if yes, what do they offer ?

Well, it's been two and a half weeks since I played this session (encompassing the whole 3rd Ottoman War) so i can't really remember for sure, but I believe at this point they were still offering white peace or a single small province.

April 29th 1680 AD

Dear Diary,

Today I can honestly say we will win this war eventually, no matter what the turks have left to throw at us. We have advanced so far into enemy territory they can never beat us back again. Certainly not now Ak Koyunlu is out of the war. I accomplished a white peace the Ottomans' main ally in August last year.

Right before we had conquered two new provinces, Crimea and Bolu.

With Ak Koyunlu out of the way our forces were now clearly superior. Although we still had less cavalry then the Ottomans our infantry outnumbered them approximately ten to one.

Our advance was unstoppable by now. Especially in Asia Minor there was as good as no resistance, in the Caucasus some Ottoman armies still kept fighting, to no avail.

March 27th 1682 AD

Dear Diary,

Three recent drawbacks occurred the last year, however too small by far to disrupt our war efforts. As I wrote earlier, nothing can stop us now.

Two excellent generals died last year, one of them has been replaced by a probably even more excellent general. First Viktorin Brno died in January 1681 during the assault of Circassia's capital city.

Then, four months later Leos Boleslav, commander of one of our colonial armies died of old age in South America. Viktorin Bro was quickly replaced by Miroslav Trutnov.

General Brno's last feats during the war were the capture of Tana, Tmutarkan and Circassia along the eastern Black Sea.

In April 1681 another reorganisation of the army was introduced raising morale among the soldiers greatly.

Trutnov continued Brno's march east towards the steppes, while the advances in Asia Minor also continued steadily.

However by this time the war was already going on for seven years and people became tired of it and angry with their occupiers in certain regions.
One army had to be diverted from the actual war effort to put down the revolts in the Balkan.

Oh my... getting the Koyunlu out was a very good move. Seems indeed you are unstoppable now.

I see your allies' war exhaustions... what impact would have on your alliance's manpower a posible peace between the Ottomans and your allies ?

January 3rd 1684 AD

Dear Diary,

In April 1682 our spies did excellent work again by forging claims on the province of Bihac which I really wanted as a part of the peace.

Sieges and assaults in Asia Minor slowed down as there was almost nothing left to storm or occupy and there was no Ottoman army anywhere in sight.

The Steppes were also slowly being overrun by our armies, the enemy was in total disarray and had no hope of ever defeating us again during this war. Their extensive galley fleet had as good as no place to anchor anymore.

Several ruling nobles in Asia Minor had pledged allegiance to me, unasked and, actually, unwanted by me, what would I do with lands in Asia Minor I could not defend well? More important was that also several provincial rulers along the Adriatic Sea and the most important noble of Makedonia had pledged allegiance to me and were now considered part of Bohemia. The Ottomans finally came to their senses and accepted to sign peace and to attend a special meeting to decide what would be done about the provinces in Asia Minor which were now Bohemian territory.

Half a year after the war ended, in June 1683, the citizens of Saloniki in Makedonia offered to to raise and strengthen the city walls, as it would certainly be a prime target of the Ottomans should they dare to start a war against us in the future.

As a last note I have to add that today we buried our good and loyal friend Trautmansdorff, who served us well during our reign.

3 provinces isn't bad. You are surely grabbing thier lands, though the process is slow, but it can't be helped.

Are you going to continue the process of declare war grab 3 provinces?

I'm nor entirely sure what I'll do now. I might build up a decent fleet and focus on conquering some more lands in Asia first. But most probably the Ottomans will be my target later on again, yes. And hopefully even later in the game I will be able to overcome Poland and grab all Hungarian culture provinces, which is actually my goal, remember?

I've first edited my latest save and switched the provinces I took in Asia Minor with provinces in the Balkan, you'll get a screenshot Sunday of the final balance of the war.

Given how this AAR has developed I think it perfectly reasonable if your goals get modified a little to ensure the domination of the Ottoman by the Bohemian.

January 3rd 1684 AD

Entry by Gottfried Leibnitz, Adviser to His Majesty Ladislav, Second of that name, King of Bohemia.

The pledge of allegiance of several nobles to King Ladislav the Second and thus to the kingdom of Bohemia made the situation after the truce between the Ottoman Empire and Bohemia unclear and tense. It was the perfect setup for a renewed start of hostilities despite the newly signed peace. The greatest difficulty was that most of those nobles lands' where in Asia Minor and defenseless in case of another Bohemian-Ottoman war.

To find a constructive way to settle these problems a congress was organized between Ladislav, the Ottoman Sultan, the nobles who had pledged allegiance to Bohemia and representatives from the Papal State and Qara Koyunlu. It was held on neutral ground in the city of Brindisi, Puglia province, Naples.

After a lot of discussions and tensions rising an agreement was voiced, in favor of Bohemia, as the winner of the last war. The nobles would switch lands with nobles on the Bohemian-Ottoman border and along the Adriatic Sea, thus forming a corridor to Makedonia, whose ruler had also pledged loyalty to Ladislav., but was a lonely Bohemian province in a sea of Ottoman territory, if not for the Congress.

The Ottoman Sultan was of course not very pleased with the agreement but had no other options at the moment. It is quite certain however they will want revenge sometime in the future.

@comagoosie: Course not!...Both consist of 8 cogs and 7 galleons (or wargalleons, don't really remember anymore).
