We all remember our blueprints from HOI2 which would allow major powers to aid the research of the smaller ones. Of course, this worked with tech teams and as was stated in a previous DD tech teams no longer exist, which to me makes a lot of sense as it forced countries to act in a predictable manner.

Now with this new research option and the idea that building a carrier will give you some type of advantage in researching further carriers im wondering how the concept of a blueprint would work.

Do blueprints exists in HOI3 ? Was there any mention of it?

Basically, im wondering how you can speed up the research of another nation with the technology you currently have. Sorry if this has already been discussed, i checked out the DD but didnt see much concerning it.

I don't understand why you think blueprints aren't in because techteams aren't in?

Blueprints made the research of techs go faster, regardless of techteams, so they can still be in. When you get a blueprint, you will either use less time or less leadership or both to complete that tech.

There hasn't been any official word on BLUEPRINTS being in or not, but I'm sure there will be some way to aid your allies research :)

Don´t you read the dev diaries?

Hello everybody, and welcome to the 3rd edition of the HoI3 development diaries.
With Hearts of Iron 2 we brought in the tech team, this gave us country specialisations; Germany was good at certain things, the US good at others. Which was good, however its weakness was that these were hard coded, Germany could never be good at aircraft carriers no matter how hard it tried, and the US would always be good at aircraft carriers no matter how little effort it put in.
The sad result is that tech teams could not feature in our new system. We liked them, we really wanted to keep them but just couldn’t find a way to accommodate them in the system.

I would still prefer the extra character of having an actual company like Porsche research my new tanks versus some anonymous tech research value.

But on the main issue, it makes sense that blueprints would increase the speed of research for one particular tech, but of course blueprints aren't the whole deal. Knowing how to do something and actually implementing that technology are two very different matters.

I figure some blueprint type thing will exist, something that aids your in research and speeds up your techs.

Since it has not been discussed then its only speculation. The new system seems more complex in that previous investment building and into research will contribute to research bonus. So that would be a kind of blueprint for a future part of a research in a way. Thats where i came to question myself about how blueprints would work.

I guess im just confusing myself by trying to figure it out. I should just wait :p

OOOhh I just had an idea.

IRL when a country developed a technology they would often give plans to other allies. IE the British designed the spitfire and then allowed Canadian squadrons to fly them (not sure if the Canadians actually built them, but that is not important as there was plenty of other war materials they did make). It wasn't necessary for the Canadians to develop their own version of the spitfire; the British gave it to them.

Now if two countries are very close on the triangular thingy, and allied to one another then when one develops a new military technology this should be passed complete to them. I think it would need an event to fire first for the country giving and if they say yes then the receiver also has a yes/no choice. Allowing you to make exceptions of things like nuclear and decryption and if you want to build your military along different lines to an ally. I think this would prevent Yemen producing any massively advanced units, as they wouldn’t be closely aligned enough, but at the same time allow the allies one of the true advantages they had in the war.

Ok, I like that idea. So USA and UK would likely be "close enough", but USA and Brazil might not be(if Vargas still in power). It makes sense, and the allies definitely would not give them to the soviets.

So I should not be able to take influence it what is shared, when it is shared and to whom it is shared?

Btw. Lead & Lease events should be some kind of blueprint, too.
What is better, than getting an actual example of what you might like to rebuild.
Maybe we could have events for capturing warmaterial usefull for a small gain of knowledge. You could even enhence that by building facilities for examining foreign armor, weapons and general equipment.
Like British brought German tanks to Bovington or Russia to Kubinka. (Nowadays great Tank Museum sites ^^).
We could build reserach facilities like rocket test sites or nuclear reactors maybe.

You mean sharing the theoretical values?

Yeah - instead of blueprints. You share your theory and concepts. They can do what they want with it.

Sharing ready plans should be possible like Canada/Australia from UK. But OTOH it could be also done this way, that they allow them license production without payment.

Yeah - instead of blueprints. You share your theory and concepts. They can do what they want with it.

That would be overpowering IMO, if you could simply "give" your allies the same theoretical value you are at.

Your theoretical value isn't something that can be shared anyway, since it's primarily people, not just books.

There's 3 things you can do to help other countries;

- give blueprints
- allow license building
- sell equipment

(hopefully the last 2 aren't the same now in HoI3)
