I imagine because it helps demonstrate how to play the game.
Since the game does not have a tutorial, and since pirates won't have a manual, that is priceless info.
I never read manuals or use tutorials. I just mess around until I get it right. Of course there was features to the games I did not know for almost a year:rofl:
Basically, apart from making fun of life as a beta-tester (constantly changing rules, loopholes found, loopholes closed, &etc), the following chapters also happen to demonstrate how to play the game, if you read between the jokes (a chore in itself, but not impossible). At the moment Paradox does not really feel like giving away such details to those with the game but lacking a manual, if you know what I mean.Originally posted by Marcus Valerius

Thus, for the moment, the publication of the AAR is frozen, as time is better spent on the first patch than on vetting an AAR for sensitive information. Tough luck, but those are the breaks.

OK, this makes perfect sense.
Unfortunately this also means that there is little incentive to visit the forums before next Friday since the main reason to be here is to marvel at the AARs and learn more about the game.

The measure is understandable. I hope the AARs will go on after the release as they provide much fun.
That you are now working on a patch rises hopes, we may get in the near future more no-european leader pictures in the game. This is a not so important issue of course. Nevertheless it would be nice if in a later sequel of "Blood to Ankles..." the beared japanese division commanders changed their looks.
If such is possible and neither the code nor the design forbid the like.
After the release, I expect the number of AARs to increase by quite a large number. Even considering starting my own AAR myself (just need to get my hands on the game first)

I'm a little worried over the low number of AAR's though...or is it that the beta's enjoy playing Victoria so much, they simply don't have the time to write any? I sincerely hope that is the case.

Just look at the posting time in the first installment of Blood to the Ankles. It was written nearly a month ago.

My impression, from what I've read in assorted threads, is that all postings for AARs, in addition to answers about how stuff works, have been postponed until at least after the release.
A shame it has to be that way, but Paradox has my support for almost whatever measure they deem necessary to deal with %¤"#%¤# pirates.

It's a shame that the AAR has to be paused, but VERY understandable. Pirates should get absolutely no help whatsoever.
Peter, I am humbled by your greatness in terms of writing a truly wonderful evil overlord. My own Strassburg AAR was patterned after your style and I must say it was a poor effort compared to you. But people say that imitation is a sincere form of flattery. Some day I want to be you. Well as a writer anyway. I don't want to LIVE where you are, or actually BE you. That would be silly, two of you would be more than the world could take! But to be as gifted a writer, now that is something different!

Dashed shame about the necessary pause of the Genial Overlord's re-education of Japan. Look forward to seeing more when possible.
