So really, there aren't enough murders that executions will destabilize your kingdom. Foiled plots don't really count.

But why should my vassal brothers be happy about me letting the man who murdered our mother go and hate me for killing him? The flat, always-appliacable penalty ruins immersion.

It would be enough to change

That would only be usable like 2 or 3 times per game, and would still be worse option than releasing them (0 relation change for execution vs. +10 for releasing). I doubt it would imbalance the game and it could actually help by making assassinating heirs to the Empire a bit risky.

What's the difference between execution and letting the fellow rot in the dungeon following a successful plot detection?

People begging you to let him out. Plus sometimes they can still plot from the oubilette.

As I said in another thread, I think there could be laws changing overtime, so that the king wouldn't have justice in every domain right at the beginning, but it is just ridiculous that one cannot do anything to retaliate against a known traitor. As someone else said, the AI should also understand the concept, so that it would be far more riskier to plot against a liege.

About banishment, I wonder if the guy still keep his claim. If yes, I think it should still be relatively costly, since it is somathing extremely powerful to do. If there were any mechanic to redistribute immediatly the land between known claimants, I could accept less tyranny, but right now I think execution should be more... encouraged, but not banishment, since you can sometime break a very powerful vassal by doing this and doing so without any penalty would be strange.

Also, good narrative with the Norwegian sense of justice, Me_.

It's not really a bug IMO, more a not very well designed and or incomplete feature. I'm sure at least one of the dlcs or free patches to be released over the next 2 years will in some way feature improved plotting though.

Basically plotting seems to be disabled for humans while in dungeons wheras it's not the case for AI. It's just far less likely. They could fix this by making plots 10x harder to execute if you're in a dungeon but that'd require a lot of coding.

Alternatively... plotting from the dungeon could simply require 15 intrigue. That would be pretty cool.

Plots can do anything, absolutely you could plot to convince the king to release you (you could potentially smuggle out hidden messages to other faction members if you're faction leader of the independence faction for instance). I have a feeling the AI actually sometimes already does this. I guess the main thing is providing some of the cool toys the AI gets to players.

I´m not against plotting while imprisoned - however the kinds of plots should be limited. Just see Tyrion Lannister did ;)
