Funny think that Austrians have bigger elements of arch German culture in them. And since you bring up races, they are like pure German, while i.e Prussians ate mixed with poles, jews and all kind of eastern european and baltic peoples. Also Pommern used to a slavic nation, and the people living there are descendents of slavs. Not to speak of rheinländerns etc which are mixed with French, Dutch, Flems, Wallonians etc. And those people have also mixed with most in north western germany. The only one who are "racially pure" are in fact Austrians and especially Bavarians.

Ew. All this talk of race and sect.

*gasp* How dare you compare me with a jew!? And a polish jew at that! Absurd! Why this makes me so angry! Outrageous! The papers will hear about this! SASHA! Get me my pen and parchment, and my wine! Don't ask me why! Who are you; Dawid?! It does not matter who he is! JUST GO GET IT! Alas, it is so hard getting proper manservants.

You are a foolish woman, with little knowledge in scholarship.
It suits the times, I suppose.

You know that Prussians weren't originally German? They were a type of baltic people in eastern prussia, and the rest were poles. So yeah.

Why do you people drag on and on with discussions of minorities and meager persons? The fate of Germany balances by a thread, and the councils argue for Jews?

Germany is at risk. Your people, the Germans, face corruption at the hands of Catholics, Liberals, and Communists - and yet you mutter on about the interests of groups whom bare no stake in the game.

Lalalalal, I can't hear you! *covers ears*

((Wasn't the prussians Teuton Crusaders first?))

Well the so called headed out to Livonia and Old Prussia. There they mingled and breed with those baltic people. It took some hundreds year before the (Old) Prussians became German. On top of that most of today's Prussia were under Polish rule for hundreds of years, and when it became Brandnburg-Prussia it was only some parts of eastern Prussia that were Geman. In the rest of it it it lived Poles. Also those living in Pommern were slavs well into the midieval ages.

While I appreciate the irony you pointed out Frau Howard. Please stop taunting the animals, Eventually they get so made they lose their paper hats and then just start lashing out. Its in their nature.

No wonder so many Poles, such as myself, support the good King Karl. All these insults towards ethnicities and faiths, rather than focusing upon the matters at hand: the stability and morality of the great Empire!

Was not the first pope a former avid anti-jesuite? After to have murdered and persecuted christians for many years, somehow he just ups and converts and then becomes the first pope ever, and is forgiven? Was he not an apostle too? Or at least wrote letters that was integrated into the Holy book? Perhaps I am wrong, perhaps I am right. No, wait, yes. I am right, no doubt about that.

Yes, because God is merciful to those that see the light. Even you, in the throes of your insanity, would see Heaven if you convert to the True Faith now.

Election of 1928

For once last time in Germany’s modern history, the people were to be called upon to elect an assembly invested with the power to totally reshape the German political system. It was 30 years since the proclamation of the Weimar Republic, 8 since its end and 59 since the original unification of Germany. During that time Germany had witnessed the Kaissereich, an Empire without a monarch, two military dictatorships and a Republic.

Socialist Unity Party of Germany (Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands)
- SED

Political Position: Left

Ideology: Social Democracy / Democratic Socialism

Party Leader: Otto Braun

The upper echelons of the Socialist movement had suffered badly during the years of dictatorship, and fared not much better in the Papan government that preceded it. Between 1920 and 1928 a large portion of the SED and its affiliated trade unions’ leaderships faced imprisonment, murder and execution. Otto Braun, who was held as a political prisoner from 1925-1928, emerged from those chaotic years as the most senior figure in the party. Too young to have fought during the Great War, Braun became politically active during the German Revolution of 1897-98 – becoming involved in the SPD and later SED throughout the Republican period. After the fall of the Republic in 1920 he struggled long and hard against Germany’s slide towards dictatorship under first the Papen-Hindenburg regime and then the restored Kaisseriech, emerging battle hardened and ready to lead the SED forward into the new era.

Description:

No political grouping suffered so badly as the Socialists during the 1920s. Targeted by both the ‘authoritarian democratic’ regime of 1920-1925 and the outright dictatorship of 1925-1928 the movement was at the forefront of the battle for democracy throughout the decade, facing heavy losses in the process. By 1928 the trade union movement had been destroyed, the SED had been functioning as a clandestine organisation for years and many of the old connections between party and community had been all but severed. But for all that, the Socialists had earned a great deal of prestige as the most consistent and militant opposition to dictatorship in the 1920s.

Foreign Policy:

Germany must remain wholly committed to Democracy and Peace, opposing Imperialism and War at every turn! Even as the horrors of the Great War drift into memory, they can never be forgotten! Germany cannot allow them to be repeated, as the militarism of the past decade would inevitably have repeated.

Germany must act as a mediating figure in European politics, looking towards reconciliation with the French, Scandinavians, Russians and Italians and we attempt to avoid the outbreak of another major conflict. At the same time we should encourage democratic development across the continent – especially in the countries with close ties to our Republic.

Economic Policy and Social Policy:

In the years of economic stagnation that followed the fall of our beloved Republic, and indeed during the last years of the Republic itself, the onward march of the German worker was halted. For most of the Republican era living conditions of the working class, both white and blue collar, had been advancing rapidly – life was becoming easier, the country more prosperous and the people happier. No more. The people now live worse than they did ten years ago, they have lower wages, higher taxes, are asked to work longer hours in worse conditions and have no means of collective bargaining to stave off the assaults upon them by our country’s anti-democratic elites.

Let the fruits of the German economy to be passed down to all her people. We should seek the implementation of a heavily progressive system of taxation – reducing taxes on the poorest as much as possible and avoid all tariffs. These measures alone should noticeably improve the standards of living of the majority of the populace. Beyond this, the state shall play a prominent economic role – performing limited nationalisations where possible and investing the construction of new, modern, industries across the land with an emphasis on supporting the development of the poorer regions of the Republic.

We must also strive to significantly expand the network of social reforms, further improving the lives of our citizens. The SED shall secure a minimum of 4 social reforms.

Constitutional Reform:

Never again. Never again can we allow German democracy to be subverted and destroyed. Never again can we allow the hard fought gains of the working class – free speech, universal suffrage, the right to organise labour and group in political organisations of their choosing – to be subverted by corrupt and corrupting elites. Let the Republic be restored, and in a form more democratic than ever before.

The Socialist Unity Party proposes the restoration of the Weimar Constitution, with all associated freedoms, with the important exception that the office of President be abolished. Henceforth, the people shall be sovereign through their representatives in the Reichstag – the assembly being granted all legislative and executive power.

The Socialist Unity Party shall accept nothing less than the restoration of a democratic, Republican constitution. Has the monarchical experiment of the past decade not made it clear to all Germans Anti-Republicanism’s inseparable association with authoritarianism and privilege? Should Germany fall once more into the hands of the monarchists all that awaits her is greater suffering, continued dictatorship and the continued enrichment of a tiny elite. Let us have a Republic, social and democratic!

German Centre Party (Deutsche Zentrumspartei)
- DZP

Political Position: Centre-Right

Ideology: Conservative Christian Democracy / Political Catholicism / Monarchism

Party Leader: Ignaz Seipel

Seipel comes from the deeply conservative and traditionalist wing of German Centrism. Witnessing the unification of Germany and Austria in 1887 as an 11 year old he grew a deeply attached to the idea of restoring the Habsburg family to power. Becoming a priest in his adulthood he resented the Republic and the Centre’s attachment to it – nonetheless actively campaigning within the party. Appointed as part of several Papen cabinets during the 1920-1925 period he, like so many, became intensely frustrated by the failure of the government to appoint a new Kaiser and form a proper constitution. When Papen fell from grace following the coup of 1925, Seipel eventually rose to the head of the Centre Party – his close relationship with the pretender Karl von Habsburg playing a major role in this rise.

Description:

The German Centre Party was a very different organisation in 1928 than it had been just ten years before. Then, it was a committed Weimar Party, long term ally of the Left and supporter of democracy. After the split of 1919 the constitutional-monarchist wing, with an ambivalent attitude to aspects of democracy, came to secure the mantle of the old party – dominating government for five years. After the 1925 coup, the party was not illegalised, like the Republican groups, and instead formed itself into the leading legal opposition – the party leadership relocating to its heartlands in Vienna where the state could not hope to take action against it for fear of provoking outright civil war. Supporting the demonstrations of May 1928 that facilitated Germany’s latest elections, the party is eager to accomplish what it failed to achieve in 1920 – the creation of a constitutional monarchy under Karl von Habsburg.

Foreign Policy:

The Centre Party seeks a foreign policy informed by Christian principles.

Whilst Germany must never waver from her opposition to godless Communism and all other atheistic socialist revolutionaries, we cannot allow Europe to fall into another cataclysmic conflict like the Great War.

It is the responsibility of the German nation to restore and maintain the relations between the Great Powers of Europe, so that your continent might be spared the rigours of war.

Economic and Social Policy:

The Centre Party remains committed to the traditional Christian ideals of the party.

We shall retain the historic Centrist policies of flat tax rates, an opposition to tariffs except when necessary in circumstances of budget deficits, economic interventionism to encourage industrial growth and the maintenance of the existing social security net although no further reforms should be sought.

Constitutional Reform:

In 1920 the German people voted for monarchy and democracy. Caught between the opponents of those two fundamental ideals the Centre Party was unable to defeat both Republicans and Anti-Democrats. We cannot allow the same mistake to occur twice!

The Centre Party shall settle for nothing less than the coronation of the rightful Kaiser, Karl von Habsburg, as Emperor of Germany. He shall rule under a democratic and constitutional monarchy in an Empire in which the autonomy of the regions are respected, governments are moderated by the presence of an upper house (staffed by prominent citizens from all of Germany’s regions and appointed by the Kaiser), in which our nation’s ethnic minorities are guaranteed fair representation in the Reichstag, in a nation where social peace and political freedom shall reign.

Long Live the True Kaiser! Long Live Karl! Long Live Germany!

German Fatherland Party (Deutsche Vaterlandspartei)
- DVP

Political Position: Far Right

Ideology: Integral Nationalism / Fascism / Authoritarian Monarchism

Party Leader: Herman Göring

Göring’s rise to become the leader of German totalitarianism was somewhat surprising. Always a supporter of the far right, he had favoured Drexler over Hitler in the dispute that shook the party in the late 1910s and early 1920s over whether the DAP should seek alliance with the Right or look to remain a separate grouping. Greatly inspired by the ideas of French Integralism, he despised the ‘half dictatorship’ of the 1925-1928 era, calling for a full embrace of Totalitarianism. When the remains of the DNVP and DAP united into the German Fatherland Party in 1926 he was chosen as the man to lead the German Far Right.

Description:

The German Fatherland Party stood for ideas that were quite different to the historic DNVP and DAP. It was a party calling for a Totalitarianism that embraced traditional forces, notably the Hohenzollern monarchy and the aristocracy, as well as retaining unquestionably modern ideas. Inspired by the failings of the 1925-1928 military regimes and the success of the long lasting French regime the party held high hopes of ending Germany’s historic instability forever.

Foreign Policy:

War is coming to Europe, this is inevitable. Germany must ready herself to defend European civilisation from Communism and degeneracy, and our German Volk and Fatherland from corruption and abuse.

Let the German y prepare herself for war, we must expand our military by several orders of magnitude in order to ensure that we are properly equipped for the coming storm.

The Totalitarian System:

All hitherto existing political movements have attempted to destroy the unity of the French nation. The Socialists fight for the poor, the Liberals the rich, the Centrists the clergy, the Militarists the aristocracy and the Jews for themselves – all at the expense of the German people!

All Germans are a part of a single national body; all fulfil an invaluable purpose in the functioning of our nation. Never again shall we allow for the constituent parts of German society to set against each other – and bring us to ruin as they have so frequently in the past.

Democracy, a source and facilitator of division, must be eliminated and all enemies of the unity of the German nation – whether they be foreign exploiters like the Jews, agents of Copenhagen like the Socialists or parasites on our civilisation like the West Elbian Poles must either be removed from Germany or made to serve it. All trade union and political organisations are to be abolished.

Henceforth the state shall act as a mediator in all disputes, it shall ensure that the capitalist, the worker, the aristocrat, the peasant and the clergyman are all treated fairly and prevent conflict from arising between them in the future. Let all be within the state, nothing be outside the state, nothing be against the state.

Germany shall be guided by a single Totalitarian party, the German Fatherland Party, and unite under a single Führer – the rightful Kaiser Wilhelm III. A role the Crown Prince enthusiastically looks forward to fulfilling in a manner his father has failed to do so.

Let Germany be reborn!

Ein Volk! Ein Reich! Ein Kaiser!

Republican People’s Party of Germany (Republikanische Volkspartei Deutschlands)
- RVPD

Political Position: Centre-Left

Ideology: Moderate Christian Democracy / Social Liberalism

Party Leader: Matthais Erzberger

For years Erzberger lived in the shadow of Adam Stegerwald, for more than two decades he was at the forefront of the Free People’s Party and involved in German governments throughout the Weimar period – all the while never reaching the pinnacle of power. The election of President Hindenburg in 1919 weakened Stegerwald, the FVP falling out of government for the first time since 1905, the electoral catastrophe suffered by the party in 1920 finally ended his leadership. It was Erzberger who would take charge of the wreckage of the FVP and unite it alongside the similarity crushed Republican wing of the Centre Party, as well as the moderate wing of the Democratic Party to launch the Republican People’s Party of Germany. After the 1925 coup, Erzberger escaped arrest by emigrating to Switzerland before returning in 1928 as part of the broad opposition to the dictatorship.

Description:

Forged from the broken remains of non-Socialist German Republicanism, the RVPD hopes to reassume the role once held by the FVP as the leading force of German democracy. Active in the struggle against the Third Reich from 1920 onwards, the party’s more moderate position, in contrast with the SED, is seen as its greatest asset in attempting to unite large sections of the German people behind Republicanism and Democracy.

Foreign Policy:

Germany was historically the bastion of peace, the guardian of European civilisation and the protector of the peoples of Central and Eastern Europe. The past 8 years have done much to destroy that reputation.

Let us do all we can to maintain peace in Europe. We shall stand against the expansion of the Communist block – but we shall not seek war with it. We shall question French domination of Elass-Lothringen – but it shall not stand between peaceful relations between our nations. We shall encourage those nations under our influence to encourage democratisation – but this shall not lead to armed intervention.

Economic and Social Policy:

The world economy has hardened since the 1910s – during the last decade of Republican rule the democratic parties of the Republic maintained a strong rate of growth through careful economic management, shielding Germany from the worst of the world economic slowdown. After 1919 the economy was neglected in favour of rampant militarism and the maintenance of autocracy for autocracy’s sake. Stagnation and a costs of living crisis have left Germany in a sorry state. Only the return of sensible and effective economic management can save Germany from ruin.

We must institute a progressive system of taxation that shall ensure that the wealthiest bear the heaviest burden and the poor the lightest. The state should play a strong role in the economy in supporting projects aimed at industrial expansion financially – but only those with proven profitability. We should oppose the use of tariffs in any but the most extreme circumstances. All existing social reforms must be protected but their expansion shall not be sought.

Constitutional Reform:

The Republican People’s Party demands the full restoration of the Weimar Constitution. This constitution was the defender of German Freedom and German Democracy for more than two decades, Germany has faced naught but ruin since its fall. Let the constitution be restored!

The RVPD would be willing to accept reforms to the Weimar constitution, so long as the democratic integrity of the state is not threatened. Should a Republican regime be impossible to establish due to the lack of adequate support in the Reichstag, the RVPD would be willing to negotiate with non-Republican democratic parties.

German National Liberal Party (Deutsche Nationalliberale Partei)
- DNLP

Political Position: Right

Ideology: National Liberalism

Party Leader: Gustav Stresemann

A lifelong monarchist and proponent of the long dormant ideology of National Liberalism, Stresemann had served as Chancellor twice, under two very different regimes, for a period of barely 14 months. Having acted as an essentially temporary premier for regimes in collapse on two occasions, the sitting Chancellor has high hopes for the revival of National Liberalism alongside his own political fortunes. The election of President Hindenburg in 1919 was the DNVP’s greatest triumph of the Republican era, and one for which Stresemann took a great deal of credit. However, the political limbo Germany was left in through the early 1920s took away much of the good feeling from this victory – the former DNVP leader eventually be expelled from his own party for attempting to elicit support for a Habsburg led constitutional monarchy, and going on to found his present party. Having played an important role in easing the Kaiser and military into relinquishing dictatorial power, Stresemann is hopeful he can mould the new Germany in his own, National Liberal, image.

Description:

The German National Liberal Party was formed from two roughly equal factions. The Right of the German Democratic Party, this was the faction of the DDP that consistently favoured alliances with the political Right in order to pursue a freer market – many of its theorists identifying a free market as being far more important to human liberty, not to mention prosperity, than an open and democratic political system. The other faction was the moderate wing of the DNVP – led by Stresemann these were the ancestors of the pre-War NLP, they had reached many of the same conclusions of the DDP’s Right during the turbulent years after the Great War, even for a time sacrificing their economic ideals in favour of supporting a regime that could ensure stability. Once united, the new National Liberal Party called for a constitutional alliance with the Centre in support of a monarchy that could protect Germany from the Left but also enshrine democracy and political freedom (potentially allowing for the long sought after laissez faire economic turn as well). Although the years of dictatorship have softened the DNLP’s view towards Republicanism, its ideal partner remains the Centrists.

Foreign Policy:

For too long moralistic governments, whether Christian Democratic or Socialistic, have attempted to provide Germany with some sort of godlike role as the protector of Christendom and champion of democracy. These men idealistic men have ensured that Germany has caused friction with all other countries in Europe, from the Great Powers to the smaller nations under our own influence who grow frustrated by German insistence on meddling in their internal affairs.

Germany’s only priorities are to ensure that her economic interests in Central and Eastern Europe remains secure, that these nations and Great Britain remained allied to Germany and that the other continental powers do not form a common alliance against Germany. If these aims are achieved we shall remain secure and the threat of another Great War shall remain distant.

Economic and Social Policy:

Between 1903 and 1905 Germany experimented in laissez faire economics. In the decade after that the economy flourished as the old industries that replaced the decaying, state supported, factories of the 19th century were replaced with new and modern industries. With this exception, Germany has been under the rule of economic interventionists since the 1880s – when her grow began to sag noticeably. This is no coincidence. For forty years Germany has been drinking poison fed to her by the interventionist state, whether it be Centrist, Populist or Militarist, and now we are facing the consequences. The inability of the state to maintain its historic levels of investment have brought stagnation and inefficiency, now we are faced with an unenviable position. Should Germany take the medicine of laissez faire a great many of the state supported industries will fail causing much temporary hardship, however, in the long run Germany shall be returned to prosperity. If she continues along her interventionist course, all that awaits is stagnation and eventually a slow and painful decline lasting decades further.

For the generations to come, let us take the hard path towards salvation!

In order to achieve this we must maintain a total opposition to any and all tariffs, provide tax cuts for investors, guarantees of all private property and promise of a dramatic rollback of constricting social reforms that have continued to advance in recent years.

The DNLP shall seek the repeal of at least five social reforms.

Constitutional Reform:

The German National Liberal Party desires a constitutional monarchy, with a secure upper house and a unitary state. The instability and politicisation of all tiers of society under Republicanism clearly weakened our nation during the Weimar era – leaving the back door to dictatorship wide open. Let this door be closed forever!
There should be no special treatment for favoured regions or minority groups. The Reichstag shall be elected by direct proportional representation with no seats set especially aside for small minority populations. Under the proposed constitutional monarchy, the Reichstag would be restored to its historic position as the font of political power – however the monarch shall be granted to right to appoint and dismiss Chancellors (so long as they can enjoy the confidence of the assembly) and if need be intervene to protect the democratic integrity of our nation.

The DNLP does not favour any particular candidate for the German throne, and should the German people turn against the idea of monarchy in great numbers we shall be regretfully willing to accept some form of Republican regime – so long as serious amendments are made to the constitution of 1898.

Then for one last time, with a tear in my eye...

Deutsche Vaterlandspartei

I cannot force myself to vote for any of these above mentioned horrors.

My vote either goes to a properly liberal, or anarcho-capitalistic group trying to enter the parliament that will say no to all forms of monarchism and be a fervent supported of free trade, laissez faire, pluralist, full citizenship and pacifist.
Either we have a truly freedom loving party, or I shall enter the parliament with a group of independent gentlemen.

I refuse to bend knee before some monarch.

One last time indeed! I cast my vote for good King Karl, so that his enlightened rule may ensure the stability of the nation for all time!
Blessed Karl, God's chosen! Deutsche Zentrumspartei, God's Faithful!

Deus lo vult! Onwards, onwards!
