WHAT!? The paper hats are a lie? This is a travesty, a travesty of the highest order, and I will see to it that there be a reckoning!

Bet you regret switching your vote now, huh? :)

*khm* Good point.

So... What will happen to our favorite enemies from the far left, the KPD? Dissolved?

No, because this is a Tommy AAR, and therefore the Communists will always win in the end. Even if he has to force a coup in order for them to do so. :)

If anything, the recent prosperity brought on by the newly-reelected Alliance government was a big factor in its reelection, and prosperity tends to lessen radicalism whereas depression tends to increase it. This prosperity would have led many ex-KPD voters to abandon radicalism and defect to the Alliance. The SPD was the most attractive proposition for this kind of voter as its the moderate party closest to their original views and political traditions.

In that case, I will fight this to the bitter end!

"I will not yield,
To kiss the ground before young Malcolm's feet,
And to be baited with the rabble's curse.
Though Birnam wood be come to Dunsinane,
And thou opposed, being of no woman born,
Yet I will try the last. Before my body
I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff,
And damn'd be him that first cries, 'Hold, enough!' "

We were truly quite in luck with the collapse of the communist vote. Otherwise, it would have been far more difficult to keep the christian democratic coalition as stable as it is today.
There's still plenty of room for tension in the coming years..

I've considered having the CP collapse, but I do think that should the situation take a nosedive having a revolutionary left is storm thin valuable. I think I will give them one more electoral cycle to see if they can recover to a reasonable level (ie atleast close to 10% or so).

Haha, they don't always win :p, just more often than not. Judging by the way this aar has gone I'd day it's a safe bet that the revolutionary left won't make it into power.

Dying corpse of WHAT?! I WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS! Don't worry DNVP, you are NOT dying. *Caresses*

Indeed, the DNVP is still the second largest party in The Reichstag with influence wide beyond itself - the likes of the DAP, DZP and DDP can all be regarded as within the limits of its influence even if the Weimar parties are pretty suspicious of the monarchists.

Bah!
Now that we have Austrian school of economics on the rise, and the old Hohenzollern court economists out; why is everyone still such a statist oppressor?

Also if Howard claims to represent the radical wing of DDP... I am sure I can get even more radical.

Hear hear! I'm soon finished with my economical book (as requested) that warn us of the dangers of state intervention and socialism. I'm writing it in Vienna...

Actually, you both represent the reactionary wing of the party, as all the liberal radicals are part of the FVP now. :p

How can anyone who claims to be a liberal join a party that advocates for restrictions of liberties? :glare:

You talk much about the freedoms "of," but from the DFP I never hear a word about the freedoms "from." :)

What is so radical about having religion in the centre? How are they radical when their policies are like the SPD's and DZP's with some modification, how are they radical when they want a big government like the rest of the parties? How are we reactionary when it is you who want to go back to old practises (like catholocism in the focus) while we want to move forward?

Sorry, but you're not radical at all. You're just like the SPD, DZP and somewhat like the DVNP. You are not different at all, it is only DDP who truly wants to go forwrd and set the focus on an improved society.

((And FYI, IRL intervensionism (and maybe even state capitalism) was contrary to popular belief the norm during the 1800's, even in USA and UK))

You talk much about the freedoms "of," but from the DFP I never hear a word about the freedoms "from." :)

The DDP want freedom from oppression, from a state that dictates your morals and actions and from force by the state. DDP is the only party that is truly for freedom and want us to be free from oppression and moralism.

You'll notice however that the year is in fact, 1909, around the time when social liberalism was beginning to become vogue in Western European economic circles. In other words, the FVP are on the cusp of radical economic change (social liberalism, proto-Keyneseanism) whereas the DDP are still stuck in the realms of 19th Century economics! Hence my point. :)

Says the party which championed the anti-socialist laws. I should know, I championed them too!
