I asked this question in another thread but I don't want it to get lost.

Why can't I blitz with an army that consists of 2 armored divisions? That meets the 75% requirement. I only get the options to Move or Feint. Is there a minimum number of units or a technology that is required to be able to blitz?

I'm not really a fan of the blitz attacks but a couple of ideas come to mind:

1. Poor Terrain, some types of ground impose huge penalties on armour and mechanized division;
2. Attacker odds, two armoured divisions is not really a lot of force, either in relative or absolute terms;
3. Defender defence strength and presence of attached anti-tank bdes; and
4. Size of the objective provinces.

Experiment with stronger attacking forces punching through weak enemies in smaller provinces. Be aware There are a number of poorly or undocumented features/restrictions in HOI that may be discovered during play and at the least favourable times. As a general rule with armour, concentration pays big dividends and you can never be too strong at the point of maximum effort.

Not much help perhaps, sorry.

Cheers

As near as I can tell, the blitz command has never worked. Just attack as you would normally.

So at no point in this history of this game has the option to Blitz a province been available when you right click? But reference comac's reply. He's speaking as if he's done it himself. And in the thread above this one the person starting it has written:

I previously said I am fighting France, and after cutting through France's back door at Belgiam/Netherlands (I think thats what those two countries are), I cut off thier front lines from suplies by blitzing all the way to Italy!

Now I'm more confused than before.

yep it is very confusing :eek: ,but i concur with Ziff!.Basically i think they never got the blitz command to work properly if you use it you will find it works slower than just the movement command.I think it was disabled at some stage.But you can still use panzer leaders and armored and mech stack combos to "blitz" through enemy lines,but the actual game blitz command does not function properly. :(

its too bad that the search function doesnt work
this isnt the first time this question is asked
but the answer is the same , afaik so has the blitz never worked properly

Does it work properly, or is there something similar, in HoI2? And I concur with the search statement; I tried to search for such an item first but there isn't even the option to do so!

Ziff may very well be correct but I seem to recall making successful blitz-style breakthrough attacks in the past. On the other hand there may very well be significant limitations on when a blitz attack can potentially succeed.

Don't forget that in real life, the tactic was only truly effective if certain conditions existed and the legendary armoured fists failed as often as they succeeded. I'll probably get badly flamed for that remark but oh well...

Cheers

I've noticed that when blitzing my mech and armor do much more org damage then with a normal attack.
However to be able to blitz I know you have to move into a province with flat terrain and has at least one adjoining province that is also flat terrain. Although I am not sure if the province province that you attack from has to be flat.
However they are correct in saying that it doesn't work very well because when you order the blitz you have to choose a province to breakthrough to(second province must be flat), however for some reason my forces always move SLOWER then they would if attacking the second province normally.

Maybe they're just sleepy after all that blitzing.

No because if I tell them to stop right after a blitz and then attack normally it decreases the attack time by a few days.
The same thing happens when ordering troops to attack through the enemy territory using shift. I don't know why but they are severely slowed down. Well slowed down is the wrong word for this as the stop moving altogether and do regain some org before they start to move again.

when you tell units to move if you hold down shift instead of giving a new order it just adds a new way point.
This is not useful in invading enemy territory because for some reason they don't move as fast as they could.

So are you saying that you can have a multi waypoint movement order that includes enemy occupied territories?

Yes, however there are a few things to remember.
1.) If your units are attacked by land, sea or air (way points work for all 3) they will "forget" where they are going and stop at the next province.
2.) There is a problem where, as I have explained before, your invading units do not move as fast when they are moving out of a province that was occupied by an enemy but is now occupied by you.
