survival comes first, I think. I never did understand why the Germans never used any V-2 against Normandy in 1944. Then again, knowing who was at the helm at the time...

You mean, IRL? Neither V1s nor V2s were very accurate. They were very expensive strategic weapons, poorly suited to precision strikes and definitely not cost-effective. Hell, there were problems with hitting much bigger targets...

EDIT: I don't see any rules concerning flying bombs/rockets, so I guess that Cpt may use them on logistical bombardment missions in the East.

Great update for multiple reasons - Germans now need Japanese more than even so taking Suez is a must, meaning this approach was correct. We can see V1 rockets in action due to shortages of manpower, for me this is adding to the feel of a realistic scenario. There is more action in the Middle East and Africa due to Germany's situation on the Eastern Front, something I haven't seen so much before, so I really appreciate some serious action in Afirica. The game became a whole lot more strategical. With the collapse of the romanian front it's a race of who'll be faster: the Axis or the Allies. Alternatively Germany can retreat to shorten its front, but this move can make potential landings to help the Axis very dangerous.

Definitely worth trying. Of course if he ever does pull a miracle and is able to go back on the offensive in the Ukraine, those blasted provinces will definitely hurt his ability to move supply to his units.
If he can manage to get reinforcements from Japan and take the Crimean peninsula naval bases along the coast can support his advance or he'll be able to push from other directions, bypassing the damaged infrastructure. The breach isn't all that wide and Leningrad and Moscov are by far much more important goals than anything in southern Ukraine anyway.

I think that once USA joins, Soviets will rape through Middle east to reach Africa. But they will have to wait until USA joins in order to not raise their neutrality.

But once they do that, there will be no hope for Axis in Africa and med anymore.

V1 might come in handy to disrupt Russian supply lines. Quite hard to intercept. They might also be useful against Gibraltar, knocking out anything of military value on that rock.

Just wish it would be possible to get those anti shipping missiles available, they are really underrepresented in the game.

In the words of the greatest actor in the world, from the greatest movie in the world, "Game over man! GAME OVER!!!"...

At least the axis arent going down withouta fight. I'd love to see hell rain down upon Russia and her Allies. Send a couple to those Brits too, they probably are starting to feel safe after The Blitz a year ago.

Has there been a carnage game where the Axis won?

There have been quite a few! But not, I think, since Sudden Carnage (which was back in SF). The last 3 games have gone to the allies (4 if we count this one).

Everything is not lost yet. If Axis manage to close the Mediterranean before the USA joins, there is still a hope!

Can anyone explain to a HOI noob why the Med is so important? My best guess would be that it shrinks the amount of coastline that needs to be defended, but I'm just curious if there are any other reasons.

Holding the Med would mean much fewer axis troops tied up in defending coastlines. Italy in particular is really vulnerable to allied invasions, and securing italy means that italy can render more aid on the east front. As I understand it, holding the entire Med will also give a boost to resources, supply transfer and, i think, morale as well?

There is no Med effect as far as I'm aware, but you can get a Gibraltar effect which requires both Tangiers (I think) and Gibraltar to be held and you can get the Black Sea effect, which Zid is fairly well denying right now. Also Suez Canal, but the requires invading Saudi Arabia or getting them to join your faction.

Last game I played as Italy, I was looking and there is a control the med Strategic effect. Offers better supply throughput if I'm not mistaken.

plus the simple fact that having control of both Suez and Gibraltar means that your opponent has to ship his convoys to Asia the long way around Africa, which, in this case, might make Japan's life a little easier.

Britain doesn't maintain any military presence in Asia, hence the number of ships will be reduced. They'll have convoys shipping out resources, if they still own these places that is.
